"If you own a system with an Intel 6th generation Core processor—more memorably known as Skylake—and run Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you'll have to think about upgrading to Windows 10 within the next 18 months. Microsoft
announced today that after July 17, 2017, only the "most critical" security fixes will be released for those platforms and those fixes will only be made available if they don't "risk the reliability or compatibility" of Windows 7 and 8.1 on other (non-Skylake) systems."

Personally I only just went through with the update 2 weeks ago and after removing their privacy invading nonsense I'm fine with it.
Fine as in: It feels exactly like win7 so I don't have reasons to complain.
Well also by offering it for free they hope to get more people on board to sort of silently squash the competition, only i see it as an eventual fail.
Sooner or later a lot of bad media is going to come of this and may spell the demise of Windows, nothing stays at the top forever, just ask Julius Caesar, just ask Peanut Butter and jelly sandwiches...oh wait they still rule !!! :pleased:
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
But on the gaming side is better be on windows 10 if people want newer and better game running on DX12.
This one is the most recent attempt: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2952664
I run Windows 10 at home, works etc.. Never seen one glitch of any substance. I hightly doubt the vilidity of your statement.

I can understand and agree with Microsoft when they announce that new upcoming hardware won't be supported, but there are already people who purchased Win 7 or 8 + Skylake trusting it would be supported. If something won't get supported it must be told before people have bought it, not afterwards.
Well maybe one day we'll have a credible alternative to Windows, but, its not the Mac, nor Chrome, and much as i might wish otherwise, i don't think its Linux either, there just doesn't seem to be the willpower to develop for it.
Win 7 may be older, but far superior atm based on what I have seen and read and from my experience.
I have to keep closing that "Free Win 10 Upgrade" Icon about every 3 days.
When the time comes, I will switch, until then...Win 7 > ALL.
Thank you

There is no "support" for normal customers anyway.

Also new processor support going to the latest distros is nothing new. You need Windows 8 to get AMD bulldozer cores to work correctly.
