Hey folks,
I'm looking at upgrading my computer for the upcoming games, and it also
feels like it's getting old. It's atleast almost 2 years old, and I
just want to see if it's just me getting the upgrade bug, or would it be
worth it, and if so what should I upgrade? Thanks.
PC:
Processor: AMD FX8350

2 500 GB external HDs.
Thanks for the input.

Sure, you can build faster today, but if your still gaming on 1080p you won't see much improvement.
Is there a game your playing where it isn't performing up to your standards?
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Like other -more knowledgeable posters- have said in many threads, if you are going to cut costs, dont sacrifice the video card, sacrifice something else. You can save some money and just get 8GB of RAM and get a faster RAM instead. Add the savings towards a better video cacrd.
If that hardware is just 2 years old and you think it won't perform then you had better be suggesting you plan on playing extreme top end games as high resolution. I use my 40" LED tv in my den for game play so only care about 1080p (I'm not really much of a gamer mind you ... I read more than play). My pc is intel/nvidia based and 4 years old and if I bought a new video card I could still play every single new game at 1080p with no issue. I still plan on using my pc for 2 more years.
You stay sassy!
It's no longer every two years. In the last few years the upgrade term has increased from two years to about four. Desktops stay capable for longer then they used to. There's even current discussion as to if Moore's law is still applicable.
But then upgrading is fun, and if you have the money and you don't care about savings because you're never going to get old or retire, build a new machine and pretend it's years ahead of the old one.
'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

Thanks again.

Should be fine in 1080p
If your an AMD fan then wait till the end of 2016 AMD will release new CPU's
Until then decide of your 7970 (r9 280x) is still fast enough.
I would guess that's the first upgrade.
Look for a 970 or a nice cheap 780ti or score a r9 290x (r9 390x with 4gb mem)
Should be around the 300,- mark.
AMD's Fury Nano has gone down in prize but itls still at about 499,-
