No. Not another eso. If anything, bethesda could release a multiplayer dlc where you can complete missions with friends similar to the ones in dragon age inquisition or coop areas like the ones in rage.
I thought Fallout 4 was so boring and tedious (go to a settlement or location, kill everything, repeat 100 times) that I really hope they don't do anything more with the franchise.
There are a lot of things that MMORPG developers can learn from Single player games. But I don't think they will translate as well as people think. I have over 4000 hours in Skyrim. I've playe modded and un modded. I've played almost every imaginable build under both categories. I know about where and what power levels should be for each type of build relative to the games difficulty. I can say with confidence. To change Skyrim to a balanced MMORPG would require so many sacrifices that the final produce would not even resemble the original SPRPG

Same! Honestly, though, I don't know why. I mean I've done tedious. I've played WoW for way too long. I played through The Witcher, Kingdom of Amalur, Destiny. The Fallout series, though? I don't know, I just don't feel invested. I feel like it's a struggle to find a good reason to play.
Because of W3, I don't think it's the Open World idea. Is it genre? Gameplay mechanics? I really don't know. Just weird.

I would still be happy, it would be nice to have at least one full budget western AAA MMORPG in development.
Of course it would be nice if it was far more true to the original games then ESO (particularly the first 2 games) but the western MMO world is where anything with a full budget is good news right now.
It would not be my top wanted IP though (which is Shadowrun), it wouldn't even hit top 5.
I'm a huge Fallout fan, and I can imagine nothing worse than a homogenised, balanced, instantly-respawning, lowest-common-denominator version of Fallout.
There are some franchises that should never be MMO'ified.
It's obvious, to me anyway, that with the latest F4, Bethesda is trying to make Fallout more like GTA in a post apocalyptic world. I'm willing to bet that the DLCs will have more GTA style activities that expands the open world of mindless combat and carnage. From there, it'll be easier to reveal that yes, Zenimax has been working on a Fallout Online which plays remarkably like GTA Online, but with far more potential players and none of that tedious "RP" stuff that Bethesda obviously thinks bogs down the franchise.
Do not want. But wait and see if this will be true. I, unfortunately, am pretty convinced it will.
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.
Co-op could be fun if the games weren't all about choices. What happens 5 minutes into the first quest in when you want to do something and your partner wants to take the alternate route? Or when you want to play but your co-op partner is still at work/school? There would be too many flaws in co-op of games this style.
@OP We are the wrong audience. You have to talk to some publisher/developer about that.
Anyway, I doubt there is a company on this planet who has the capabilities and the will to create an Fallout MMO I would like to play. And not just another cookie cutter MMO.
But if you know such a company, sure, let's do it. Those who voted No are probbaly just afraid they won't get another single player version anyway.
co op, indeed. the game itself is fine. a co oop mode, like a 4-10 person server would be enough, especially with settlements and more followers. players could work together or compete...vie to start certain mission chains first...this is how skyrim should have been too...let 5 people start a new game together, and each go seek different factions to do. permadeath would have to be a feature i guess...

My fallout 4 enjoyment came from taking my time exploring places instead of following arrows. On my way to quest locations I always made sure to take a detour and scan out the surrounding to see if i could spot something fun.
The narrative in fallout 4 wasn't strong enough and missions lacked variety to make for a good quest experience.

I think games in general should not jump from single player to mmo instantly. It's one thing to design a MMO from scratch. But when you want to keep the original gest and cater to both the IP fans and mmo players taking that huge step does not work for me. I'm not saying games like FFXIV or ESO are bad games. But their single player franchise were vastly better games. So why make somethinh less good?
On the other hand Skyrim 2 with co-op option would've been a much greater game in my opinion.
@loke666 be that as it may, a full AAA budget western MMO failure might put the final nail in the coffin of the genre though. Not sure FO would be the right choice for that.
Gaming Rocks next gen. community for last gen. gamers launching soon.
Personally I feel like Fallout 4 was lackluster at best. I played 30 or 40 hours and couldn't muster the will to take another step. I don't know if this series just doesn't resonate with me anymore or if people who like this game either have bad taste or believe it's good because it was supposed to be good.
I would love to see a AAA post-apocolyptic MMO done right (a la wasteland but better), but I don't see why it needs the fallout tag. To me that would just restrict the game in so many ways.

I actually don't think it would. Or at least it depends on one's point of view.
I only have about 1,300 hours or so but in that time I've thought about what could have been done to make an "mmo" version.
It wouldn't be to anyone's liking but I think the original Guild Wars system where the world is instanced to the party would work. Alternately, the world is not instanced but every cave, dungeon, etc would be instanced to the party.
This is not what people usually want when they think of mmo but it could allow multiplayer in an Elder Scrolls world.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Fallout Online would be good if they allowed players to join factions... and those faction battled each other for stuff.
However the game is post apocalyptic survival... resources are supposed to be limited and people would not like that joe blow has nuka cola... I need it.. and there is no more. So they would make stuff respawn... then it would not be survival anymore... just post apocalyptic...

At level 30, you can fast travel overweight with the str perks. So, the gameplay also adds looting every last speck of dust.
