As much as people love to hate on NCsoft, I think they deserve a lot of credit for the timely manner in which they have responded to many of the community's concerns.  I realize there is a certain percentage of players who, no matter what they do, will never give them credit, but they do deserve some acknowledgement for the expediency in which they have addressed many of the concerns being raised with BnS's launch.

I agree to an extent. I don't hate them but I feel like it's 2016... They and any publisher should have known this was going to happen and they didn't take preventative measures.

Well they did open 6 new servers and increased population limits.  And everyone seems to ignore the fact that gold spammers do not exist outside of the lvl 10 zone.
That's only because they haven't had time to level yet. Previously there were none in Faction chat either, but today I couldn't ban them fast enough and finally gave up.

Bot trains are in Cinderlands, so the spam isn't far behind.
They don't need to level up just simply walk to the next area.  The bot trains are probably the farmers, but that's odd you claim to have seen bot trains and I've only seen 1 multiboxer in 30+ hours of leveling characters to 15.

Really? I sat there today and reported Gold spammers in faction chat over and over and finally I gave up. And I am level 16. Now I have Faction chat turned off. NCSoft needs to address this or they will be losing customers very quickly and soon.

For every move there is a counter move. Come up with smart ways to block them and the smart gold spammers come up with a counter move. So nope, to your nope. FACT: Every new MMO has a problem with gold sellers. Even games where you cant trade gold. If you think its so easy, you should start a company and show them how its done. Its much like hackers, new ways to stop them needs to be implemented each week. Why? Because hackers always fine new ways to exploit systems and updates. This war will never end.
Like I said, after Steven Klug implemented the algorithm, gold spam dropped to 0.

    People always generalize

    "Every game has gold sellers"
    "Everything can be hacked"

These are nonsensical arguments, that aren't true. There are class differences between programmers, there are security systems that have never been hacked, there are MMO algorithms that DO stop gold spammers.
Thats just not true. I was a network engineer and there is no system that cant be hacked. Some of the most secure facilities end up hiring the few guys who could hack them. Some doing so just to get a job. I could tell you stories that would make you laugh.

To me lots of goldspammer are anoying as hell,  but it's the sign of a healthy game.  I would worry more if i never saw any goldspams.  When goldspammers stop finding it it profitable to sell gold in a game,  it's a fairly clear sign that the game itself is not very profitable,  maybe even to the point of loosing money.

Experienced it first hand. It was bad at the full launch, but seems to have exploded over the last couple of days.
The actions in the current maintenance patch are simply not enough. There is still the 50 name block limit which should never have been there in the first place. At the least, this should have been increased by a factor of x10
It's ok saying switch off channels, but now they have started whisper spamming to players. Once your block limit is reached - and mine was full within 10 minutes of constant blocking - then the only options are either to turn of this channel as well or live with the constant gold spam scrolling up.
The only channel that's usable at the moment is your clan one, but you need more than that when going through the game.

Only valid point you have is the whisper thing.  The new change to level limit will put a huge dent in the gold sellers game.  Sure some of them will break through but its going to take them 2 hours per character before they can even begin to use any channels.  That's a huge difference between 2 hours and 2 minutes.

Its a scripted botnet account system that is creating new accounts at the rate of 100 per second - you could throw a 1000GMs at this and they wouldnt put a dent in it.

They are permabanning bots via automation - as that is the only way to fight another automated system.

The gold selling bot operation is also bypassing client launch - they are piping in chat to game via 3rd party tools which avoids having to have PCs capable of launching the client and are using a botnet to gold spam.

NCSoft is using F5 irules to temp ban IPs - this is part of their ban-automation but again we are talking about a huge botnet with a huge pool of IPs so again it does little good.

This is one of those problems that is easy to misundersand for an outsider that doesnt grasp the scope of the gold spammer operations.

100 per second? That's potentially 8 million+ new accounts per day... sorta explains some of the F2P account numbers we see reported :)

Maybe if the games themselves weren't all about cash transactions the customer base already primed with their wallets open wouldn't be so relentlessly courted by the 3rd party sellers... just a thought.

All I'm reading is that F2P MMO releases are worse in this respect than 2014 releases... which were worse than 2010 releases. Gee, I wonder what 2018 will bring?

Credit for what? This is a 2 year old game and you act like no one saw this RMT spam coming.
They simply didn't bother to add solutions they must have had for 2 years now.

There is a direct correlation between the extent of gold spamming in a game and their popularity/success. Little do the BnS and NCsoft haters realize that the issue that they are attributing as being a failure for BnS, and by extension NCsoft, is actually the barometer indicating how successful BnS, and by extension NCsoft, as been with this release.  Again, if the game wasn't so popular/successful we wouldn't be having this rabid gold spamming problem in the game.  They are there because the game has been a huge success and the demand is huge, and they continue to grow because the huge player base is supporting it.

No amount of stubborn denial is going to nullify the fact that gold spammers will make their way into a game if the profit is there.  It is a worldwide multi-million dollar business that will not be denied their profits. They can be held at bay for temporary periods of time but as long as the player base is there they will never be rid of.  You may be under the illusion that a game has eradicated them because you no longer see them, but that is more than likely a sign that they have re-allocated their resources to another game, because your game is no longer worth their while.

Actually you are arguing against yourself
BnS only made it to the west because of its extreme success in the east.

Like you said success attracts the illegal companies we loath so much.

The point is NC started doing something AFTER the launch and not before.
Do you really think they came up with a solution within this western launch week and not in the 2 years the game has been running in the east already?

Actually there is a very easy way to be rid of it for good: the companies sell gold themselves undercutting whatever price the 3rd party sites set. Players who use the cash shop have already trusted NCsoft with their credit card or other payment method so they'd probably feel safer buying from them.

But they don't want to do this because it would undermine their own fiction that they're not in the business of selling gold themselves... which they all are in a more convoluted way when they allow the AH sale of cash shop items or currency.

If NCSoft doesn't fix this serious issue with their game soon - it will make people quit.   Spammers have pretty much taken over regional and faction chats to the point that you can't report and block them fast enough.  On top of that, you are limited to blocking only 50.   In the past 6 days I filled that 50 over 10+ times.  Think about that really hard.

    Did you do the math?

That is over 500 spammers reported and blocked.

It got so bad I had to remove faction chat and regional chat just to be able to communicate with people in game.   If this keeps up I'll give up on the game as well.   This is beyond ridiculous and NCSoft should make this issue priority #1 - besides the queue times some people are putting up with - this is now the biggest issue in game.

I don't think pay to chat would work, but maybe premium chat channels.

In any case NCSoft should take some action and quickly. I can understand that there are always occasional spam messages no matter what they do, but this is too much.

Some games already have pay to chat, it's called a monthly subscription.  :p

It can even be revoked if abused.

I was online immediately after the patch. The spamming is non-stop and they are replaced with in 45 seconds. I also checked out the profiles of them and almost all of them are under level 10 many level 4s and level 1s. I put in for refund and uninstalled.
If I have to disable all chats but /say and /party I might as well just play a single player game. You can't even mine in the game to supply your own crafting because bots get 95% of the nodes. Go to any loading area close to a resource and sit there and watch and count the bots zoning in and out to check all the channels.

this kind thing you ignore local/trade chats as usual
why you use chat in  this day? find a guild and use voice(ts/mumble/ventrilo/curse/razor/etc)

It always amazes me how players resort to the threat of having already uninstalled or in the in the process of doing so as if they are doing the company a favor by playing and the only entity being hurt is the company.  Does it ever register that perhaps they are also hurting themselves by denying themselves the fun they could of had in the game by being affected so much by something as benign as a chat box?  I mean, to me, quitting over a chat box is a bit over the top.  I don't know, maybe its just me, but I rarely ever even look at a chat box and when I need to I am easily able to customize it to my convenience.  It just seems to me like such an over blown drama queen response.  Again, to each their own and I respect that everyone has their own little pet peeves, but I would hate to be you.
