Wow your attacks are getting why out there, I never said that.

Let me ask you guys a serious question. Let's say they never release the game and they go belly up and all the money was wasted. Who will you blame and be mad at?
I'd have nothing to be mad at or mad about, wasn't my money that would have been wasted... I feel no urge to be a white knight for those who willingly gave money to a dream.

    "Description:

Freedom House is a multi tenanted office building constructed over three floors. The office has attractive and contemporary double height reception area.

Each floor provides a tenant the opportunity to occupy open plan and functional office accommodation. Some floors have been partitioned and may already suite some occupiers fit out requirements. "

I'm not reading it again. I'm saying you took it to left field on some crazy sim city thing, man. You used the term "construction". You used the term "rented". They didn't "rent" anything, I'm sure. That investment is to physically buy the space, as in, we own this as assets, in which they "built" a studio. It's like you're using wacky semantics to try to prove something wrong. Just stop.
Think you just changed my mind on this.

I think game developers should stick to writing games alone  in their basements where they belong and not invest in design studios with proper software, hardware and all that useless shit!

"UKTI have helped us greatly. In particular, they have allowed us to maximise the benefit of tax credits, which has further brought down our costs and encouraged us to invest more in the UK than we had originally planned."

    OK that is settled.
    @Brenics ;

Really mate, how do you pull these meanings out of things that never seem to say what you think they do?
Is english your native language? Honest question.

How did this thread go from "Star Marine gets indefinitely postponed" to "They rented a building in the UK"?

Don't need the video seen it already. See all the construction going on back then when they took a tour for the backers. It does cost money when you build new rooms, then rewiring the offices, and of course the new 15k coffee machine.

    LOL I was joking about the 15k coffee machine.......or was I? :-D

Because no part of this game is going to be anything like "call of duty", and while we're at it, let's look at where the crowdfunding money has gone since they're progressively, intentionally refusing to live up to their own hype?

OH, and the UK space is one of FOUR studios.

Pretty sure they need a building for the employees to work in.

I'd think they'd need their infrastructure in place first, but that's just me... as how do you have the full game if you don't even have the company in place to make it?

Amazing how many great games we have played thru the years yet they started in a garage and never had to have places all over the world to work in. Now we have worse games that spend more on buildings and furniture than the games it self.

Yah, it's called taking advantage of governmental tax credits and such.
Additionally it is called having an office where the talent pool is. You open an office to hire talent that is local to the location of said office.

    Basic business.

So you do not feel that the Star Marine module as promised has been indefinitely postponed as Brenics stated?  You feel he made that up?

Actually, I believe the only thing we officially have on that is that it wont be returned to until after the tuning of it's elements in the PU are finished.
That would mean it is on the back burner to be addressed later and not cancelled.

Shit you would almost think they are making a game with all that investment in infrastructure rather then banking all the cash and ripping people off!!!

    So which is it?

Are they investing in the games development or banking the money and running?

Not with 100 million crowdfunded dollars, it's not basic business, no. I will not accept that. Activision is a multi-billion dollar company, on their own merit, and they have "little more" than this. DBG is questionably worth upwards of 80m (if that) and they have 2 studios.

So "indefinitely postponed" would be accurate?

    Just plain wrong.
Regardless of how the capital was raised what they are doing (as relevant to this particular point) is business as usual.
You not liking it doesn't make that untrue.
