I'm pleasantly pleased with having a chance to get some beta time today..........

Years past, I followed MMO's from their announcement to their launch, and I think my attitude was like a lot of people's here, I got bent out of shape at developers for promising one thing, and then leaving it out of a game. I felt it hurt their credibility, and I suppose it did with the hard core fan, but I realize that in reality, the "hard core" fans might just be a vast minority of the actual purchasers. I mention that thought, because I really have not paid a ton of attention to the game, I missed the "map" fiasco, and the missing "tablet" app, and I was able to just play, and evaluate the game based on...well...how it felt to play the game, not based on what I thought it would be. Being honest, it probably made me enjoy the game a hell of a lot more than I might have, once upon a time, and I think that's a good thing.

Graphics turned down? Okay, if you say so. It may look infinitely better on a PC, but I was pleasantly pleased with how good it looked on Xbox. The weather changes were great, and the game did a pretty good job capturing the essence of what I thought a plague ridden NYC would look like. (Hell, there are times I think they don't need a plague to have it look like that....kidding....mostly...)

For me, the game felt solid, it felt enjoyable, and I've got no intention of canceling a pre-order, in fact I'm really looking forward to see the whole thing. I've got my questions, because for a story driven game to thrive, I think they have to pump an awful lot of content in, and while I appreciate the 3 expansions mentioned in another post, that's one ever 4 months, not sure that's enough, at least for people to keep logging in and playing day after day.

If you judge the game based on the delay's, and on what they wanted to do versus what they actually did, I think you might be shorting yourself a little bit, and missing a pretty solid title.....

Me? I'm lookin' forward to spending some time in The Dead Zone tomorrow. Something I thought, and still do think will be a gankfest, was not what I expected tonight. I went in solo a few times, had some random folks heal, and rez me, and I did the same, might be a one off kind of event, but I think it's exactly the kind of thing Ubisoft is going for, because I'll bet at least once this weekend, I'll start to believe that it's possible, and that's when I'll get the good loot, and get ganked, all in one fell swoop. But because of tonight? I'll go back in again, and again, always wondering what will happen "this" time.

Good time...sorry for the long post and observation, but was just thinking over how much I enjoyed it, having gone in with very few preconceived notions, and ideas, and just judged based on what I actually played.
