Mordheim: City of the Damned is badass

BraindomeBraindome Member UncommonPosts: 959
Dynamic turn based combat with  procedurally generated maps, single player story, skirmish mode online, permadeath, morale system, looting and gearing and a complete D&D type roll check on almost every action done.

This is literally like the best most advanced game out there right now and I highly suggest anyone worth their salt check out this game cause it is doing so much right in so many ways and it DEFINITELY deserves attention!

More info with details about the game can be read on this lore page:

Also, just cause it's so awesome and hardcore read this rule that I took a pic of, this is the way you do it folks, consequences for your actions:

Is it anything like Darkest Dungeon because that game was rubbish.
Not in the mood right now since playing a lot of Duelyst but i might check out some game play videos tomorrow or later tonight.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Did they fix the load times ? Its somewhat hard to get into a game when it takes 5 mins to load every level. It did seem like a good game though, just didnt have the patience back at release.

This is a great video to watch and gives a pretty thorough run down of almost all the rules and gameplay mechanics:

Darkest Dungeon was like that ,took forever to get to the next game.
Yeah watching that video,it is not my cup of tea.Turn based does not suit that type of map.
The map although not finished state still has no color at all, nothing has any color.

I like the idea behind these type of games,it is just the implementation that is never good enough to excite me.

I have the game since the day it entered early access.
I was so excited about it.

But with all this time I maybe played it 2 hours. Why ?
Its just incredibly slow. Loading maps takes over 2 minutes.
Enemies take turn for ages. Its like most of game time is waiting ...

I am sad to say this. Since the game and the company that made it is really labor of love.

"Disconnecting counts as an abandoned mission with all the associated penalties"

Meh, not for me, then.  I refuse to play any more games that penalize you just because your connection or their servers crapped out at an inopportune time.

Honestly, for a TURN-BASED game, you'd think they'd at least give you the chance to reconnect back into the mission first...

I came across this game and they mentioned that often things were stacked against you and the mobs are always matched to what you bring with you. This makes the combat tedious and long and yes the load times were dreadful. Also if your group got hurt or died then they stay dead or hurt.

I love X-Com Enemy Unknown and am playing Wastelands 2 and Divinity Original Sin but I doubt I will enjoy Mordheim. It looks like a frustrating game.

I'm glad you found a game you're enjoying OP. I may check it out down the road when it goes on sale on Steam in the summer. The atmosphere looks great if you're one of those people like me who likes a dark and ominous vibe once in a while.

I bought it then returned it when I started playing and realized it was stop and go turn based combat.  But that's my bad for missing that main point when I bought it.
