Seriously...
If you've got an account that is legitimately 10-15 years old... and you've only got 10,15, 30,50 posts here. That breaks down to a max of 5 posts a year which is laughable given the scale of what is discussed on this website.
I just point this out as someone started a "you must have been here for 10 years" post but when you start looking at people history/post count its laughable.
What defines a leecher? I feel like it's someone who takes from the community and doesn't contribute. At all. Isn't less than 5-10 posts a year that in a nutshell?
So these people have accounts, but only show up when something is being given away. Seems like sea gulls to me.
Maybe it's just my sour grapes...

I've been going to the Escapist for years but must have a max of 5 posts there.
With Bethesda's Elder Scrolls forums I must have about 50 tops? And this is from wayyyy back.
Sometimes people really are just there to read up on things.

If you are not new to the site, you already know almost every game has the same 3 or 4 topics repeated again and again. I see no reason to repeat the same discussions or arguments about whats P2W or how good or bad PVP is, or "game is the worst launch ever...." ect.
Quality over quantity- a mantra that should be embraced by many forum posters.
Besides- have you considered the fact that this is actually a mmo news portal and not reddit?
I am sure there are a few accounts that are created just for giveaways because there is nothing wrong with them doing that to be honest. Having a high post count doesn't mean your post are worth while.
I used to frequent this website because it had good/relevant articles about the games at the time, unlike today. It's now turned in to a more reddit-esque style cesspool.
I'm 10+ years and this should be my 100th post, that's less than 1 post per month, and I find my self replying to this shit.
I mainly don't post because decent topics seem to always turn into a thread of people insulting each other, but congratulations! You managed to cut through all the shit and just start insulting people right away... for a petty reason.
Leeching = slowly taking something away.
Now, if there were loads of users coming to the site and each one was somehow magically able to remove a single letter from a post or features, that'd be leeching.
Simply reading the site and not posting is probably a good thing. More readers = more hits on the ads = more revenue for MMORPG.com = site stays up.

I think someone REALLY wanted that BDO key huh?

Any posts merit should be based on the content non on how many posts a person has.

And I do agree with most of the posts. The forums DO get bogged down with repetitive forum wars. Even I have stepped back from. And I personally like a good argument because, while I'm not always right, it's sometimes interesting to pique the other sides brain to understand their reasoning.
It's also quite nice seeing some of the "older" people chiming in. You do exist and you do read these so I suppose you've vindicated the argument in my eyes just because you do pay attention, even if you aren't necessarily directly involved in the conversations.
If I have a philosophical thought about mmorpgs, I'll be back to post it... Knowing full well that 15 other people said the same thing already.

This is where I draw the line: __________________.
For instance, I have 1.2k posts. The vast majority of those are "throwaway" posts. No content at all. Droning borefests at best. Rambling on and on. Basically just connected breath dumps spoken through a keyboard. Look at my post history, I dare ya.
BUT, I still deserved that BDO key! I was only 4 months away from 10 years!

Almost 10 years here... and 325 posts... most of them come in large chunks...
Maybe I just never found much that was worth commenting on..
