Um...bored

Played this game for about a month.  After following the loose plot, I finally gave up as it was just the same thing over and over again.

How is it the same thing over and over? There are tons of story arcs that you get from your contacts, you get a new power to play with every other lever, there are so many different character combinations that it would take forever to go through them all. CoH is a great game! Try teaming up with people. When I started getting bored, that's what I did.

So you find the game boring after 1 month? Repetition? You give the symptions but you didn't mention the cure.

    image

These type of posts for any game do not offer any valuable input. What games do you play that you don't find boring, how would they apply to the game you're complaining about? What would you suggest that would keep your attention? Do you want us to "convince" you to keep playing? Sorry, only you know what you want. We can offer suggestions. We can provide feedback how we have kept the fun alive. This applies to any game you play.

I've played this game for over a year, I've yet to have a boring time. I've got about 20 heroes I've made, each one different then the other with level ranges from 8 to 48.  Each character plays differently. One mission may be a total flop, but with different team mates and different builds it may be the most exciting thing ever.

Repetition? Show me an MMO that does not have repetition...heck show me a video game that doesn't have repetition!

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

True, every mmo does involve repition. But NC Soft has a reputation for taking this to the extreme *cough* lineage *cough* This game is no exception.

Now don't get me wrong, this is definitly one of my FAVORITE mmo's that I have played. But it is the sort of game that is best played for a couple weeks off and on.

I also, made the unfortunate mistake of choosing a Blaster with Devices, not knowing that this was the fastest killing combination in the game. With my monstrous AOE's I could decimate great numbers of mobs by myself faster then whole groups. Once you have done this, then tried another archetype it feels like you are going in slow motion.

However, that is not what really hurt my view on the game. What hurt my view was that it was very tough to really get into a character because there are SO many super heroes. Perhaps you have heard the saying that "if everyone is special then no one is." It applies perfectly here.

But, creating a hero is just so much fun that if you take a 2 week - 1 month break, I bet you will feel like jumping back in for a few weeks. That is how I felt anyway.

Pyro is the prime exemple why the CoH community is so great!

When I left and explain, he say something like: hate to see you leave :(  but he was respectfull, accept my nasty reasons and even say he will miss me on the boards.  image

In many other communities, folks just support the game and trash any who complain or give a reason.  I dont believe the community is the main aspect of a MMO ''fun-aspect'', but it certainly cannot harm it to have such great folks around!  image

And the OP is just doing what 45% complains are, basically he say he dont like it FAST.  It is okay, I didnt like shooter after a day, I move and I dont think any shooter game miss me.  45% of the others folks complain because they want MORE of what the game give them...and you can lash the CoH devs, but you really cant blame them, as long as peoples want MORE, it mean they dont need to change anything, but hire more folks and work more in that direction.

Very little amount of peoples actually play the game a LOT(if you cant stand it a month, just leave it, it is beyond any hope to make you enjoy a game with such a style, I left WoW ater 1 day, the game would need such a major revamp it is pointless to even argue or talk about it, it just dont meet my FUN factor).  And most who play a LOT(a few months is a minimum IMO) would usually complain that they want MORE(levels, gears, powers, stuff, this...bah they like the game, they want it MORE).  Only a minority of complains focus on aspects that are easily to access.

I've played this game since it came out (not beta) . I have never been engrossed in a game as much as i have this one. I now have a lvl 50 Blaster and was worried that it might get dull or boring but now i have a lvl 22 PeaceBringer and a lvl 16 WarShade and the action is different. Sure some of the storylines are the same but now you have to deal with Quantums and Voids, not to mention more baddies. Growing up i was a superhero nut, and still am. I find most people who play CoH love superhero's and thoroughly enjoy the game and the ones who don't care for superhero's as much tend to enjoy the game less. You have to decide why your playing the game and if you find it's not what your looking for then there are many other good games out there like Guild Wars or WoW (both of which i also play). For me this is the best MMORPG out there and I'm looking forward to CoV. ::::20::

imageAnofalye, you give me praise I don't deserve. Frankly, it is ashame that many people stereo-type players into either Fanboi's and Trolls. (not that you've done this, just posts in general)

I've enjoyed the people in CoH community and how the Developers keep in touch with their community by personally posting. People don't always agree with their decisions. You get that with any game, especially dealing with changes.

Even a well though out post will get flamers. Myself, when I see a post like this that say's "I'm Bored" or "This game sucks" for any game, I'm always curious about why and how the poster would improve any issues they have.

They are posting for a reason. But I'd like to also see what solutions they might have...give examples how to "fix" the problem.

BTW, hows the other games your playing?

It is the same thing over and over again, this is just about the most repetitive RPG I ever played.... the grind is long and boring, they should take a page from WoW and make the game about the fun and take away the grind.

Then everyone can enjoy the end-game which should be the potentially awesome PVP battles between when CoV comes out!

The game can get repetitive, but it is still fun. I find that the most fun comes from trying different character combinations. When CoV comes out, then things should really liven up. The PvP is going to be awesome!!!

Okay, what from WoW should they take?

I've played WoW, and found it less then spectacular in my opinion.

No sidekicking so you can be outleveled by your friends, no exemplaring so you can't help friends who are lower level.

No sense that you are a heroe. Try taking on 5 things at the same time in WoW compared to CoH. CoH, the combat feels more "dynamic"

Those are of course my opinions and if WoW could take some of the Dynamic combat, sidekicking, and exemplaring, then it would be better. Also, most everyone looks "the same" sure the armor is different, but the face, the body structure is the same, unlike in CoH where you rarely run across someone who looks like you.

As for repetition. I see the same "repetition" in WoW as I see in CoH. But then again, I don't feel the repetition or grind. I'm still experiencing fun with friends and other supergroup members.

They are nice, but they are single player RPG(or strategies), which mean I ''finish'' them way to fast.

No matter what they change in CoH, when CoV come out, I will give it a try again!  image  I think I read stuff about Hamidon hunting be no more ''the center of the 50+ game'', which for me matter a lot. image  So nothing to complain about here...if the Hamidon lose it ''central aspect'' earlier, I may try CoH before again, but I didnt read anything concrete in I5 or I6.

I know I should not care about ''high end'' that much, but I cant help it.  I am 100% achiever and the others 3 are at 33% each, which clearly mean that all I care about is ''achieving''.  image  And since to me ''raiding'' is not part of my ''fun equation'' as long as it is requested for ''grouping or soloing uberness''...

Been sick and overworking as well.  image  Changing job & all, with the efforts and everything to please everyone...watching a few movies as well, to catch up!  When you play games a lot, you have to do movies catch up after!  image
