I went middle of the pack.  It gets me some goodies, but it's not so expensive that if I hate the game, that I'm mad that I spent the extra.

I was not looking to much for this game, but since CBT2 is closed, all I can do is think about the game, read about it and watch youtubes of it.. It's been a long while since I have felt this kind of withdrawal syndrome from a beta... so ... Explorer it is for me too.

Still waiting to see what the community thinks 3 months from now. Gonna wait on this one.
remember you will mostly see the negative posts end up on this forum....

Its hard to get a good feel of a game from reading forums..

I probably disappear if its good since I would rather play than bitch.

Though I haven't played, I do cringe at the amount of hype and the religious fervor shown by the true believers. I don't think I've seen such a group of strong supporters on these forums since just pre-GW2 days. Is this game really that good?

And the vehemence of the detractors is also quite zealous. For example, people who didn't purchase any version coming in to tell us of that fact and voting anyway. What's causing such strong reactions?

I think people are just excited about having a good looking game that offers crafting and exploring as well as a bunch of other sandboxy elements.

The game has its issues as I wonder how much land there will be at release. During the last closed beta I decided to get off the beaten path and even discovered a nice little hidden place but I also discovered an invisible wall "south".

So does that mean there's not much after that boundary, is that going to be added at launch or should I have been traveling east to find more things?

As long as they add more land at some point I'll be happy. I love grinding in the game and I love the feeling of it being alive. I realllllly wish they would add places such as Lineage 2's Cruma or Tower of Insolence of Giant's cave.

I know some of that is coming so hopefully we get more after that.

You know what? Just got to this post and listen to the video.

The author of the video mentions people who are still playing skyrim and I am one of those who puts in the types of mods he mentions.

It made me pretty excited to play, actually. I've really not been into raiding since I dabbled in it for a bit in WotLK. I'm really happy there is a new game for people who don't want a raiding "endgame."

When I first started CB2 with a free key, I thought I wouldn't but it grew on me steadily as I started to realize how deep the game is and how genuine the world feels.

Now, to find a good NA guild...

Raids are in the works - after they add dungeons, the insider rumors are they're already working on a first raid.
According to the dev interview today they wont be doing dungeons.
Raiding though, is a go for those who like it, but not instanced raiding like most people are accustomed to.

    Quote Below :

Q: Are there any plans to add instance based dungeons and or raids for end game PVE content?

A: Adventures and fierce guild wars in Black Desert are strongly established on an open-world system. Some special content might need to utilize an instance dungeon system, but we are not going to add a repetitive instanced dungeon, where the sole purpose is getting rewards.  Guild- and party-centric raids are already implemented in the game now, and we are developing more advanced kind of raid.

Obviously anything is possible and many seem to believe Pearl Abyss and partners are evil liars, so maybe "raids" will be added at some point, but as of today, doesn't look like it is a priority.

The last line "and we are developing more advanced kind of raid." states otherwise. :)
Depends on what "raid" means to them. I assume to a good number of folks, it refers to static instanced dungeons (WoW) to repeat for 0.1% phat loot drops. Which the previous line seems to be against.

Open world dungeons with mechanics beyond mash the DPS keys would be "more advanced" when it comes to BDO.

Regardless, more content is always welcome as long as it doesn't become "the game."

Wouldn't mind them going the zoning in route to public/open dungeons/raids. They could be instanced/phased but still open to X number of people to play through or fight over. I miss DAoC/EQ style dungeons.

No and no game ever is or will be for everyone, hence why you get the blind fans/haters going at it.

Games are a relaxing hobby for me and I put my time/money into what brings me fun.

Those that think any game is going to be perfect and never let them down are silly, just as those that think game devs are out to scam us all and churn out terrible products just for kicks.

BDO is a lot of fun if it has what you're looking for and obviously not so much if it doesn't.

Initial thought heck no to playing it. Gave CB1 a try, then KR, and now I'm waiting with my $100 pre-order.

I'll enjoy it while it lasts but I'm not going to fool myself as all things come to an end unless willing to adapt. Unfortunately over the years I typically choose to not adapt as I buy in for the initial product and not the "upgraded" form that devs decide to do down the line, we'll see how this goes.

I wouldn't mind something open world too. Maybe something like the Hamidon "raid" on good old City of Heroes. A ton of characters working together in a zone to bring down something nasty, each with their own tasks to see to during the fight.

No need to party. No rolling for who gets the epics. No ninja'ing douchebags while PUGing. Just good old fashion teamwork where everyone gets a reward if it succeeds.

And hopefully with BDO being a B2P title, it'll result in smarter players that know contributing will be more in their interest than trying to leech. Unlike let's say... Neverwinter Online's community of parasites. *grumbles something rude about assholes ruining the Tiamat fights time and time again by joining to afk for the rewards*

Unfortunately if you look at the game forms...community is already steaming with whiners and complainers.  "I paid for this game so I demand this." or "I paid for this game so it needs to be what I want."
Seems the F2P crowd has rummaged up money to buy this title, and are figuring since they finally put money into a game, they are major shareholders.

I bought the Conquerors Package, just to get that head start. Figured four days and I should be well ahead of the initial rush.

Yeah, I'm fully intending to avoid the overcrowded starting areas and getting to the areas where the game branches so much that people wind up questing in all kinds of different directions. The world is massive enough that once you make it out of those annoying tutorial areas, it's smooth sailing from there on.
