Some of the best details SC has are reflected on moments on is when things like this happen, https://streamable.com/a286n7

That's someone who noticed a ship on quantum jump as he mined on a planet's surface. Those details quite the visual boost, it's really the immersive factor that is sc's biggest win for me.

It really is rather unique, I was hype for Crusader and Orison since the concept art pieces were around and then it releases and it's a sort of Armstrong moment even after playing SC for years.

with all that, it is still to face big quality improvements with the tech pieces that didn't made it into the 3.14 release

The new updated radar, scans and pings now allow another awesome bit. Ships pings on the dark will illuminate the surface, that's a huge improvement from flying, well, in the dark!

The game of the details, while playing around on Orison seeing the petals going with the burst of wind, but still interacting with solid objects properly, gg

Who needs SQ42 when you can awkwardly roll with flower petals?

Also a nice detail that most people miss. In Orison as you arrive you see information on the huge thrusters that keep the landing zone platforms from falling lower in the atmosphere.  In that lore bit it says the locals refer to them as "the Orison massage" because periodically you can feel the thrusters fire.

If you happen to have a controller with vibration plugged in, periodically while you are around Orison it will vibrate as that same thing happens. Plays out by hearing a boom followed by a screen shake, when connecting it to the lore not understanding what it was became clear it's the landing zone thrusters.

The work put on so many of these details just translates in the boost the whole experience gets when players get when they visit it.

It has been a while since I last tried the free fly event. I was actually considering purchasing the game yesterday, but then I watched couple of videos reviewing the current state of the game and decided that I will wait probably a couple more years until they progress with the development a little further.

I dont think at the current state, it would keep me entertained long enough to be making that investment now. By investment I mean jumping in, learning the mechanics of the game and simply spending any larger amount of time and energy on it.

Having said that, I think it has a huge potential and if the funding keeps coming as it has so far and they keep the game development up, I think 3-5 years down the road, it may be in a state in which I would consider giving it a serious try.

I think this project kind of requires that you adjust your expectations regarding time tables, deadlines, etc... Given the ambition of Roberts and the scope of this game, I think it is quite possible that the version 1.0 could be 10+ years away. It will still be interesting to watch how this develops down the road, but I will be keeping this on my radar. if I close one eye and ignore all the things I dislike regarding this project, I have to say I think it is pretty cool that someone attempts something like Roberts with this game.

you won't have to wait that long honestly. the main thing holding it back right now is server meshing and the new renderer, both of which are being worked on heavily with an attempt to get them finished for end of this year early next. Apart from the economy simulation called Quantum there are no other core tech pieces that still need to be completed. everything they add after that is comparatively easy to implement.

Of course the game has huge...massive potential but NOT with these asshats running the show.
Also the specs to play this game should not be very heavy at all or the game engine is garbage and or the team is garbage. This game should NEVER take the loading i have playing Atlas, not even close to the same amount of  loading and i can play Atlas on a gaming laptop.

If SC had heavy loading entering towards landing on aplanet then sure it mIGHT but i NEVER see that happening because there is and never will be much AI or animation or object loading.

As for the potential, well it might be one step up from Eve online but imo it will still be just just Eve online 10+ years after release and that is a game  that COULD have been.Considering the amount of money already funded towards this game they could have outsourced a FINISHED >>AAA game up to my standards and STILL had money left over.

So i strike this entire operation up to incompetence and hoarding money to the execs pockets rather than the game.Since this game has garnered so much money is there any transparency ,does anyone know how much each are being paid of money supposedly going to the game?I bet the wages paid to themselves would be staggering if found out.

The gen12 renderer this year is more realistic. But the server mesh is already a Q2 2022 at the earliest. Quantum it's unknown the backend has some implementations but I imagine after server mesh, considering the AI is not coping with the current server tick rates to face increased complexity before those much needed improvements implement.

But yeah those show to be of the last major development milestones to be achieved, with all of those being in the works for years already this next year will be a big tell on how they'll come together.

I will keep an eye on the progress and whenever I feel the game is ready, I will jump in. The estimate above was made based on the videos I watched recently. If it is sooner than that, its only better.

I am actually warming up to an idea of buying myself some package with a nice ship.

Was considering the Constellation Andromeda package which goes for 333 USD. The ship looks really awesome and is supposed to be decent for various activities.

When it comes to buying beyond starter package or not you don't have to worry on flexibility. You can melt a package you bought for credit to buy another, you can also upgrade to another one and just pay the difference.

As far as the Constellation goes, it's also a ship you can already buy in-game, with the potential earning loops allowing you to do a decently fast earning to actually buy it. Those alpha purchases are not going to be permanent, they haven't been wiped for a year and half already as they are doing more localized wipes that aren't hitting purchases/currency.

If I buy just the starter pack with some basic ship, how long do you think it would take to earn enough ingame cash to buy this ship. Just a ball park in terms of hours played.
It depends on the patch has numbers change often, but as for the current live version, you can with a basic ship reach earning rates on the order of the 200k UEC per hour (click for the guide).

The constellation andromeda is 3.5m UEC to buy if I'm not mistaken, so about ~20 hours.

It's obviously going to get longer to earn ships like that in the future, but for now is a good deal for the potential time you will be able to  keep it until a progression wipe hits.
  • MaxBaconMaxBacon Member LegendaryPosts: 7,846
Id rather be able to keep it once I get it, so the package seems like the better choice for me :)

It's up to you, there is now enough flexibility to play with the ships you wanna play without needing to be spending money for it, it's what I do haha

As for the HOTAS you asked it's a pretty standard thing many play SC with, I'm not one of those but if you search YT and such you'll find setup guides and all to get it working well with it

When are they going to announce a CBT?

  • MaxBaconMaxBacon Member LegendaryPosts: 7,846
I was looking at the Vanguard Sentinel ship package and noticed that it cannot be purchased now. Is it possible that it will be available again in the future or has the ship sailed on this one :)?
If ships get sold again, it'll be on the anniversary sales, they happen in November. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/iae2950/guide

Quite gg bit on Orison the areas like these cargo haulers that roam the sky more for decoration still have realized interiors and are physicalized at that to be able to land on them.
