Is it me or are there a real lack of MMORPG's that have a real story associated with them? Or the ones that do have a great story associated with them (Earth and Beyond), it's so poorly implementated that it's not strong enough to hold your attention.

That is true. I guess I should say are there any MMORPG's that the story is an important aspect of the game play experience?
I think Horizons story will play a big part in its gameplay. Then again lots of games seem that way until you actually get to play them.
Dude, check out www.faceofmankind.com. The story there will be controlled by the players. The higher you get promoted.. the closer you get to the 'top' of the plot. You get given a mission, you decide how your subordinates (real players) have to conduct the mission. And they then make decisions about how THEIR subordinates should play out the mission.
But, if you are fighting over an ORE refinery, and you lose... the economic system is suddenly gonna jump up with a price of Ore, so your weapons are more expensive..
I think that with out a doubt, FOMK is gonna be the best story game out in 2004. So what am I gonna play till then?
I spent a reasonable amount of time playing MMORPGs and they seem to be about the accumulation of wealth or an uber character usually one brings the other. Anyway, when you GM your first char.. what's left? no one is interested in RolePlaying and you suddenly realise there is no gaming left to have. And oops. I signed up for a year. Yawwwn. I've made that mistake too many times. (once only, but there you go)...
