AMD won't support Vulkan outside of AMDGPU

Unlike DX12, where basically all cards with CGN will be supported, like the 7000 series and up.

On Linux and Vulkan, only a select few of the newest cards will be supported under Vulkan, ones supported in their AMDGPU driver.

Actually sounds smart. You have to consider it from their point of view. Do you support every single card on 2% of the user base when all the users are technically savvy? Makes alot more sense to support just a few and let the customers know what they are.

Bit disingenuous as only the newer cards more than partially support Dx12 anyway, no reason to believe, considering what Vulkan is, that it wouldn't have the similar issues with older cards.

AMD said that they're going to support Vulkan on their Linux drivers, and you think this is somehow scandalous?  It's not like they support DirectX 12 on their Linux drivers.

I don't blame them at all. 

AMD provides a driver for linux, and the linux community complains not only that it isn't as fast as Windows, but that it's not open source, with code available. So they make their own driver, and then complain some more that they can't make it as fast as the proprietary driver AMD releases.

I like open source software, don't get me wrong. But I can totally see AMD's viewpoint on this, I wouldn't go out of my way to support every Tom, Dick, and Harry who wants to write their own driver stack either.
