Looking for Advice.

Hello everyone, I have joined this site because I want to learn about upcoming mmorpgs. And I am posting here because this seemed like the place where I could ask my question. My question is that I am playing Multiple mmorpgs right now including World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XI. Now these games are tons of fun and all but they are going no where, I mean theres nothing new for me to do. I have decided that I want to pick a upcoming mmorpg, one where I can start exploring right away, one where there is a great PVP system, one with lots of quests and experience parties. But I do not know of the new mmorpgs coming out in the near future. So i ask anyone for advice, what mmorpg are you looking forward to? What mmorpg do you think will be worth playing? Thank you for all the help.

sadly, im not looking forward to anything in the near future, currently spend the vast majoratiy of my time AFK in eq2, just watching tv, or leaving it on while i go out. its got to the stage where i just dont see the point...

DDO (Dungeions and Dragons Online) looks like nothing more than a filler to me, i seriously doubt it has a hope in hell of capturing "the spirit of PnP" because that spirit is player made, its created amongst a group of friends and its brought about by the freedom you have to go anywhere and do anything.

Fallen Earth and a few other games have my eye but again i doubt they are my kinda thing

Vanguard is where my hopes lie, but thats more making do...

Age of Conan has some promice, but its keeping rather quiet.

to be quite honest i'd quite like to go hibernate for a few years and see what 4th and 5th gen hold, as inovation seems like a lost art form.

For a great balance between PvP and PvE you should look at Roma Victor, due out later this year, it's got tons of very cool features and if you like history you'll love this Roman Empire based MMO.

Apologies to double post but Roma Victor is probably best described as a cross between Shadowbane & ATitD in case you've played either of those? IMO - the combat system described in RV is better than S'Bane and the crafting more extensive than ATitD.

I'm also looking forward to Auto Assault, which looks like great fun!

"There are no character levels in Roma Victor. None. Instead there's the huge, diverse skill tree that we've already mentioned. There are no level-based restrictions by design or consequence like you'll find in most MMORPG's. You won't be forced to find people of a similar level in order to play in a group and you won't be restricted to certain types of encounter. Of course this also means that you won't be trying to catch up with friends that have played more than you (and therefore 'levelled' faster), or indeed trying to slow your own development and/or 'level up' your friends so that they can come and hunt with you again. Character development in Roma Victor is much more like real life. "

if someone had told me that levels where abolished i'd have hoped into my toga long ago and been on the RV band wagon :P

in all serious i dont know if RV will be my thing, just because of its historical setting, but now that i know more about its game system i'm certainly going to be giving it a try, magic and guns soon loose their appeal anyway.

Well I'm by far no expert on MMO's, I pretty much read this site for just that reason, but I'd have to say the one that has me excited is Darl and Light also. Of course not everything is for everybody so I would suggest reading the official site and judging for yourself.

Untill then I'm making due with EQ2, which as I think your feeling, has me to the point of wondering what it's all about and what the heck is the point. About the only thing holding me there now are friends and the community. Although I try not to get my hopes up to high for any game, I'm very eager for DnL to go live.

Sorry, but with those caps I cannot tell if you are trying to be serious or...not. I will look at both sites when I get the time, which should be in about half an hour. Thank you for the advice.

    1) Planetside
    2) Eve
    3) WoW

Everything else out there pretty much sucks.

WoW needs to find a way to balance the teams, because Horde is just getting outzerged.

Eve makes you grind money to be able to pvp.

Planetside requires a powerful PC to play smoothly, but its the most fun MMO so far that I've found.

Everything else out there is simply not even worth mentioning. EQ/EQ2/SWG are completely worthless. MxO is a futuristic "me too" clone. Everything out there right now is just stale PVE-based crap, or some variant of evergrind.

Well the 2 games that I am looking foward to in near future are Dark and Light and Auto Assault. Cant say that both of their release dates wont be pushed back, but if DnL delivers enough of what is promised by dev's, then I think it will be pretty decent. I chose Auto Assault because its a break from the fantasy hack and slash. Looks like it will have very fast paced combat and alot of PvP...hopefully the PvP means something and isnt pointless.
