So i want to be a fisherman and build a boat

Can someone explain why i would fish live verse just afk fishing? what are the upsides to fishing while playing? How do i AFK fish? Where should i be selling my catches for maximum profit? What are the first steps to boat building?? Should i be doing all the fishing quests.... SO MANY QUESTIONS ARGhhhhhh!!!!

Ignore him, he's trolling... most active people in here already know him since he's been doing that for quite a while....

Anyway if you want to build a raft I would focus on doing the quests from a guy in veila near the docks. Well actually there are 2 guys in there. One looks like a fish and tells you how to craft fishing rods and also gives you quests to go meet NPC's on some islands away from veila and then there's a giant which will teach you how to do a raft.  He tells you how you can do it which is a bit complicated since you have to hire workers and even a raft needs a certain amount of materials and can be quite lenghty without proper worker/material managment but the quest explains it though and it's totally worth as going into the middle of the sea and fish there's a higher chance of recieving blue's and golds. Where to sell it, well you can check where your fish will have more profit at the trading managers but bear in mind you'll need a trading route if it's in a place far away.

I would be focusing on the productions and fishing quests if you want to focus on fishing, it's certainly worth as there's a lot of people doing it for some good profit (and since money is a big deal in this game, it's a good path to follow)

Thanks so much guys!!! so GLAD to hear fishing while playing is superior to afk fishing as right now that & boat building /exploration seems to be very intersting and fun..

He's half trolling.  To get a decent ship you need to get to Ephoria port ( East of the map) after having reached Calpheon.    Get nodes for birch and get a worker asap, you need 2500 birch logs to build the fishing boat..  

Do fishing quests, up ur lvl, get bait, get better rods....   just have fun with it.     Most ppl afk fish because its the easiest form of afk progression.


And as per selling your fish, they are pretty worthless right now   unless u get rares

Yeah I mean afk fishing is easier since you basically don't have to do anything but I find it much better to just build a raft or a boat and go away from population to find rarer fish (which equals more profit)... also as someone mentioned you can go whaling and ofc active fishing is faster than afk fishing

And yes suprisingly there's an interesting amount of sea exploration, there's some small islands with few amount of NPC's but I also found on the map a small village on an island that I haven't been in yet

Fishing Boat   =  2500 Birch timber, 625 Tin Ore/ 625 Copper Ore, 30 Pine Sap, 60  Rough stones
