We tend not to score DLCs, and if I had it my way we'd do away with scores on our full game reviews too.
Tend to agree with this approach.
So someone gives a score of 5 against a game, then someone else gives it a 8 - what exactly is that telling you? - apart from people have different tastes.
Prefer descriptive reviews, detailing the nuances of the games.
If you don’t pick up this DLC you’re not missing out on something crucial to the core game: the skills in the trees are all passive and offer little benefit to the player
It’s much smaller in scale and what it does offer the player can get old
thats all i needed to read :P
scores only cause drama.....i agrree that Pro/cons are way better
I like it very much that they stray away from scores and numbers, which were always debatable. Sometimes it looks like a score adds too much of a personal opinion to a review, while -in an ideal world- it should at best mostly deal with plain facts. Many times the difference between say 7.5 and 8 caused unnessessary commotion, protest, accusations towards the reviewer and just lead away from the discussion the way it should have been. I myself am guilty of having replied to a number underneath an article more often than to the actual content.
I think a review should stand for itself and if it's well done, it doesn't need a score to back it up. Pros and cons as a conclusion or sort of tldr-version are just enough, although the cons often seem to be a bit sugarcoated.
Not wanting to be nitpicking or anything, but the DLC is 2000 crowns, the cheapest of the 3. ZOS knew that the content was nowhere near the one in Orsinium, and they priced it accurately.

Well most scoring systems are convoluted at best. "2 stars" sounds bad to many, until you realize that site reviewer in question uses a 3-star system. However when sticking that on something like Metacritic, it reduces all scores into a percentile score. 2/3 is 66%, which still looks horrible. That is what some bypass instead of reading the actual review and absorbing the context of what is being said about a product. This is especially the case with games that show up with moderate/lower scores than 80% because of a conversion, yet the very small mount of stars/points removed from the score is usually due to one or two nagging bugs or cheesy cliche in the story. I think all review scores should be removed and when people want to be informed of a product before purchase should actually get an education and proceed to READ the reviews (or go the lazy route and watch the YouTube ones).
The DLC is 2000 crowns. I think that is a pretty big factor when comparing it to the other DLCs. It is obviously going to have less content at a cheaper price. Hopefully the original article is edited with this since it is currently blatant misinformation. That is a pretty big difference.
So happy to be done with ESO as a pvper after over 2 years of nothing but disappointment. BDO has been fantastic. BTW, spelling error in the last paragraph "The Thives Guild" unless this is some new guild we've just never heard of =P.

Why does a review has to have a score? Did you not comprehend what you were reading?
Oh I comprehend it just fine - it's just that I look at everything in terms of score and numbers.
Like your reply is about a 36% for me.
This reply i am typing is probably like a 29%.
I meet a new person - within 5 seconds I have a percentile score for them, go to a new building - score it, go to a car wash score it.
At the end of the day I score my day.
See what I am getting at?
That is a interesting way to go about your daily life. Are you a Quantity Surveyor in real life? If not you should be!
On Topic: I have enjoyed the DLC so far although I haven't actually done any of the quests yet. Just looting the random containers in the world that come with it has been a fruitful diversion.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Uhm no to the incessent ongoing endless PVP requests. PVPers have had the benefits of being the focus of the past few updates, no it's not all about you. It's PVE player's time to get many improvements you can stop trying to make it all about you now. smh
As far as the description of this DLC if this is true then this is exactly what many casuals have been waiting for imo. Not everything in MMOs are all about groups sometimes you need PVE content to be casual in order to keep the majority playing. If heists are as fun as you describe then this is exactly what many of us were waiting on!
Good read and yes I agree with some of it. I had to go back after reading to update my score of the overall game. It went down big time to 3.4 and I believe that to me is a fair score for them.
Right now consoles are having big issues with the TG patch and a few have left and believe me Zenimax can't afford to lose many more. Consoles are having issues with the normal things we all have no matter what system you are on. I guess the text is so small in some areas of the ui they can't read it. Now that would be a major problem for me being old so am glad am still on PC. I was thinking of going to xbox one but decided the game just has to many issues and bugs to validate more money into the game. Heck i even talk myself out of a 2nd PC account. When you really sit back and rate the game you can't come up with any good reasons for adding a 2nd account.
The people that run the game from Matt on down confuse the heck out of me. They actually do have a great environment with ESO that could make them millions and stay on early World of Warcraft footing. They have turned their backs on fixing major bugs and issues and keep throwing out game breaking bugs with each patch. Customer service has been in the drain for last couple of months and no sign of them actually trying to fix it.
I still hold out hope for the game, again the environment of the game is awesome. But I doubt I will ever go back as long as the same people keep running it.
Actually @Torval I know a lot of people that do this. One reason people do polls on sites and every day life. I'm sure you have seen them on TV, gaming sites and so on. Even TMZ does polls to get an idea on entertainers. What would MMORPG.com be without game ratings?
that said with a clumsy start and a very short story-with mainly all female npcs(just like wrogthar feeling like an all out barbie ESO as of late)-which is getting pretty predictable- i hope that they learn from their mistakes for the next DLC.
Actually @Brenics a lot of people don't. Maybe a few people do but I have never personally met anyone in real life that does. I would venture to say that people that do this have some sort of disorder. Giving random shit in your life an imaginary number rating isn't normal in anyway.
Most people either look at things as good or bad. Not well that hamburger was an 80% but the interior of the restaurant was only a 70%. I'll average that out to 75% and I guess that's good enough for me to come back.
That's not normal.
So you never walked into a store and found you didn't like the setup, prices or the employees and how they acted and said nope never coming back to this store?
You guys act like we all write ratings in a book and do some special math. Nope it is done automatically in your heads and you tend to remember if you would go back or not. It would be like going into the hospital and a week later you get a survey from them to rate how they done. Done all the time.
Kind've apprehensive about them making the Thieves' guild a paid DLC simply because that is an expected guild to have in any Elder Scrolls game in recent memory. It should've been in when the game launched and or part of the original purchase price if not ready by then.
Still haven't got past level 2 in the game due to personal issues (involving marketing and how they handled some customers issues in the past) and how they kept on disconnecting me when I tried in earnest a long time ago (some bug with saying I was spamming too much, when I didn't use the chat system at all).
Might pick it (the DLC) up whenever there's a sale for it, as I'm just wasting the $5 box I originally spent on it before it went to B2P by not playing through the game.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
I'm having a lot of fun in ESO, but it's a shame all of their DLC is way overpriced. Well maybe not for console, but on PC $20 will get you a hell of a lot more than any of these DLCs provide. I mean if you compare the size of this to something like Pillars Of Eternity White Marsh, the value per dollar of ESO DLC is really really really low. If I had tons of time and I could play everything I wanted to I would likely buy everything anyway, but since i don't I prioritize by bang for the buck. Something of this scale should probably be $5-$10 at most. I don't mind mounts and other fluff crap being expensive because it allows them to be more rare.
I'm fairly new to ESO, and enjoying it very much - and I have to say - the ideas of the Enforcers you mention sounds fantastic. It would allow open world PVP but on your terms - don't want to PVP, be good and obey the laws - break the laws - expect to be attacked. Makes your choices have actual impact and gives a sense of tension to your game. In fact, I would take it one step further and allow the Enforcers to take all your stolen goods if they kill you, or make you an offer - pay them some gold and they let you live. I hope they bring this in.

I enjoy this DLC and it's definitely worth the 2,000 crowns (cheaper than the other DLC's at it's base) - even more so when you consider all platforms got a sale for 40% off crowns the week the DLC was released for each platform.
Even aside from the quests and things, it's fun just to be pickpocketing or looting Thieves Troves as you go about your other business. It definitely adds some fun systems to the game and these sorts of things are what makes a game feel like it has a soul, instead of just some empty content treadmill. You still have new content that people enjoy, but the game as a whole feels like it's well thought out and cared for and not some money-making dev machine, but a full-fledged MMO that they really care about.
But you're also forgetting the new raid that is only available via the DLC, Maw of Lorkhaj. Why no mention of that? Not only is it new endgame content but it's scaled to the leader as much of the recent DLC content has been.
