I obviously cannot comment on the entire list but i will comment on one .I think they are in reality just adding in every single piece of game development as an update, when it should NOT be listed as an update.Example a line of code was added, let's put it in the update.
OK the one point.....The doors made no sound open/closing.Seriously?How is this an UPDATE?
The guy adding that into the map ,would have for certain have tried it at least ONCE and noticed that immediately.Even so how LAZY or sloppy are the employees that they forgot to add in a sound file to the menu system? You have the mover properties and the sound files and the textures and the placement and being a skilled employee after doing this likely hundreds of times,he forgets the sound files?
point being, that is not something that goes unnoticed then all a sudden ,days later,we need to UPDATE it...sigh.That is something that gets done while working on the game.It is basically like saying ,ok i misspelled a word in the code so i am posting an update that i changed the spelling of a word.
Aside from lame updating, yes it is a good thing they are fixing things that are not working but imo fixes are expected and NOT worthy of UPDATE,to me updates are adding in new content but i guess their update post would simply be a new hangar room and a new gun .
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
@ Wizardry I presume that you have not read that many patch notes, especially beta ones.
I could link you the notes from WoW's Legion alpha builds since i have access. However, i do not know if this would go against the NDA.
To cut it short : the "we fixed / added this sound, effect, glow, color etc" is all over the place in said notes as well. Same goes for the Diablo seasons betas. Same for almost all games in development.
>>> to me updates are adding in new content but i guess their update post would simply be a new hangar room and a new gun >>
New content like a flyable alien scout ship for instance ? Or several new FPS guns including my new favorite, the scoped/zoomable, chargeable Arrowhead sniper rifle ? Or the huge new ship that comes with the new larger hangar room - the MISC Starfarer
Or new mechanics like the now activated security around Port Olisar, the player spawning zone. Or the way known player pirates are being hunted now (and the hunters get a reward) ? Or the way the player pirates can hack their way back to legal upstanding model citizens ;-) ?
Did they add more or new gameplay elements apart from pewpew with this version?
I would say the "being a criminal and facing the consequences through NPC and player action" would be the main new gameplay element. In previous versions you could fool around as you liked without consequences, as the "security" part was not active yet. I got the impression that CIG gathered quite a bit of data on how people would misbehave if given half a chance.
I agree that pewpew is one of the focus points of this update. That and a LOT of fixes for ships, missions and equipment. Patch notes have the details.
What the video bloggers, twitch streamers and Youtube warriors currently seem to like most is flying the Xi'an Scout - because thats quite different from flying a "normal" ship - , touring the large MISC Starfarer and sniping people from ambush with a fully charged Arrowhead.
At the moment they are running around in circles with this strategie, they are adding more and more engineering dept with each new hull they implement. most of the time I read about fixes on ship hulls that have been implemented when their focus should be on adding gameplay elements, but I guess this is a result of selling these hulls and they want to satisfy the needs of the buyers to actually be able to pilot these things.
When you have cake, it is not the cake that creates the most magnificent of experiences, but it is the emotions attached to it. The cake is a lie.

My impression is that they focus first on the hulls that will appear in Squadron 42. They have to fix and polish them anyway until the end of the year.
Adding gameplay elements that are not needed until the end of 2016 (Squadron 42) have been assigned IMHO a lower priority.
Let's enjoy a little Def Leppard to this new patch.
I know am really impressed!
WTH, is that guy using a Super Nintendo joypad to play? I guarantee he isn't using a K/M setup. Although he might purposely be doing that just to make the video look worse.
Surely not though.

Haters: no progress made *faffs off tug their shoelace*
Heck just fomr the last free flight event i can tyell they have made progress... Why..? Well because my potato of a rig actually had a frame rate compared to the last free flight event. Still no playable but far far better than it used to be. So i can only assume it have improved on computers that actually meet the minimum specs too.
As for doors and sounds... There are a lot of doors in the game and it is fairly unimportant to QA if the doors have sound at this time. If i can take a wild guess someone stumbled over it and decided to fix it on their lunch break.

Haha, that video is awesome, I love how movements aren't restricted, and you're free to play like a dumbass if you feel like it. I love things like that, I hate game engines that don't allow me to explore the full range of it's capabilities. It's also obvious that there no glitches in that video, it's a dude playing with a gamepad and spinning the view all around when he sits in a seat. Also the floating above the platform is awesome, shows how well they did the maneuvering jet system on the suits.
Seriously if you're gonna make a fail video, try not to make it look so fun.

It's beta. Everything they fix, edit, or otherwise change will be part of an update unless something drastic happens.
Let's enjoy a little Def Leppard to this new patch.

Interesting that the player in THIS video (which is only a few hours old) seems to have no problem taking off normally with his ship (in contrast to your "commando", which is surely highly talented and knowledgable .... the "commando" seems to enjoy crashing into other ships a lot though). I must say that "commando" is also a very neatly person ... seems to love to intentionally polish the landing deck with his faceplate as a hobby. Is he trying to lick it clean ?! To each his own.

I'm not liking the cockpit view very much with those pillars in the windows, but the rest of the scout is badass looking. That take off is great.
In any case it was obvious what the dude in the first video was doing, just ramming the side view directional, and some clever quick cut scenes, I've seen better though.
Well one reason could be the computers running the game. We all know in development they have to make the concept demo or pre-alphas, Beta's and of course release has to be able to run on multiple different systems. So I can easily see why it may work on one but not on another.

Oh no, i am sure that highly talented "commando" is just misinterpreting the "collision alert" on screen as an alert to intentionally collide with anything in view. And that is what he is doing in that video. A LOT.
But on the other hand its a good way to find still missing collision detection issues in the ship and station models. I will forward that video to the feedback area. Will make a good documentation video for the Issue Council and the "things to be fixed" list.

Imma giving you an "Awesome" because this is the first post I've seen of yours regarding SC that was reasonable and not flamebait. In fact if the dude in the video you posted wasn't outright Trolling then that would explain the shitty camerawork seen.
EDIT: And the "LOL" from @Erillion shows why this game and the forum of is so toxic. Shame on you dude. Not everything has to be Whiteknighted to death.

Or the even longer more detailed list from the PTU test servers (PTU Alpha 2.3.0 and 2.3.0.a-f) ?
