I just don't get their development times and cycles. They did so great on gw, is it just that with a true mmo setting it requires thatmch more work to keep the engine stable with releases? What gives?

    I'm playing both GW1 and GW2...
On 1 I am spending most of my time vanquishing and when I compare the open maps of 1 with the new 3-layer maps on 2 such as Verdant Brink then I know why it takes longer.

Those maps are infinitely more complex than what they did 10 years ago.

I don't think there are better zone maps in any MMO to date than what they did in HoT.

That depends on what you want from a map. If you love meta-event zerging, then the new maps are great. If you want to actually explore, play at your own pace, and not feel penalized for not participating in the zerg meta, then Tangled Depths is the only decent new map.

And I can't fault someone if they prefer goal-focused gameplay. That's their cup of tea, and all the power to them for that. But when I log in, I want to set my own experiences. Vanilla Tyria is great for that. Heart of Thorns is not.

I can't really think of a better way to summarize this topic other than Arenanet is a ghost ship at this point. There's so many things wrong with GW2 from WvW, LS, Dungeons, class balance, and now the endless grinding that they *formerly* advertised against... is a major part of their game now with the release of HoT. They want to desperately make PvP an esport, when the game is so hopelessly imbalanced and sooo boring to watch... they are just clueless. The added condescending tone of Mike O'brien with this lame excuse of his to shift the development team around was the nail in the coffin for me with this game.
