Is Legion going to be a cash Grab? Or is it going to bring back the glory days?

Hey everyone!

I have to say first, that yes, I'm an avid warcraft fan. I've been on the Journey with Blizzard since the early 90's of warcraft, humans vs orcs - so in a way a feel silly posting this but it is a legitimate question.

Wrath of the Lich King and The Burning Crusade were fantastic expansion, but I felt like the magic of the game started to really dwindle and die down around the launch of cataclysm.

Mostly I'm just interested in your thoughts, and thought I'd link a post to all of my thoughts here instead of providing this massive wall of text.  http://smunchygames.com/2016/04/02/legion-another-cash-grab-bringing-back-glory-days/

So what do you think? Cash Grab? Or awesome?

If I remember correctly, I heard the mention of Sargeras somewhere. hmmm.

Blizzard and the word cash grab?/?lmao

Just look at what they are doing with Hearthstone, that is their biggest scam to date, trying to eliminate all that hard work free players were doing in collecting cards, eliminating them so everyone has to buy the NEWEST cards.
Look what they did with catalyst lol.

Look at what they released with Overwatch a barely half assed release of a game.In hearthstone they have BORING static hero's,you would THINK they could take some of those multi millions and give their supporters something in return but NOPE,you want a new avatar 2D picture, pay us some more, that 20 million a month is not enough money for a cheap game to make lol.
Blizzard has one focus at all times, what can make us the most money for the least amount of effort and gamer's gobble it up in the multi millions like they  don't care if they are getting ripped off one bit, almost like gamer's are begging Blizzard to rip them off.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

If this was 2009 I would give a shit, Blizzard killed my enjoyment of playing WoW repeatedly with every expansion starting with Cataclysm. Warlords of Draenor was the wake up call that I am just not a part of their demographic anymore. I can't stomach how the game has devolved.

I agree they made mistakes, right now am just hoping Legion will correct some of those mistakes.

It probably won't be glory days, but if they could fix professions, that would be a good start and probably get my money. I've got my hands covering my ears right now, though. I'll pre-order but cry if it sucks.

The reason WoW is so successful is not the content it delivers, but the emotional attachment it has on players. They know people spend money based on emotion and attachment and for that I applaud Blizzard.

Only complete tard will believe in this bs about "glory days" again and again lmao. This game going to nowhere since Activizzard stopped invest money into it seriously.

Like someone mentioned here on forum with that amount of money they got from wow players they could make a few brand new wow games, and they did actually just it is not wow haha

I don't care anymore. The game has become a way for the writers at Blizzard to stroke their own egos by showcasing the poorly written stereotypes which pass for characters in their world. It's become a theme park in the worst possible way; our characters are primarily relegated to becoming mere observers of the bullshit Blizzard tries to pass off as a 'story'. Our characters are, at best, sidekicks at this point. For any RPG, online or otherwise, that's unacceptable and reeks of bad and / or lazy game design.

Look at FFXIV's story. Yes, occasionally one of the main characters will save you just in the nick of time, but there are also plenty of situations where you save them. You're part of the team, not just a foil for Square's writers to showcase their own work... and they're much better writers!

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

If you considered WoW magical at one point and no longer do, you will never consider it to be magical again. That's just the way it goes with MMORPG's. Emotions and nostalgia play a larger part in that than the game itself.

I think Legion is going to be more of the same.

I bet on a cash grab that will lose players dramatically and fast after the first month.

I believe the good ole days are still going, Legion will be a continuation of them. The question is do you see the glass half full or half empty? World of Warcraft is the best mmorpg, it has the great history behind it yes, it's held to a higher standard, and some day you too will realize this and give in to what some call fanboism, the truth is though it's more reality than fanboism. Accept that WoW is the only game to play, stop chasing waterfalls, you'll have more time for things outside of games to do and you will always have something inside of gaming to do because WoW has more content than most people can handle and it just keeps piling up. Have a great day friend and remember, We Will NEVER BE SLAVES!

I haven't played for like 8 or so years. I would come back if they made it available to play in Virtual Reality :-). Would love to play this on a VR server for the Oculus Rift (which I'm waiting for) and the HTC Vive :-).

When you are looking through a rose tinted glass at something and calling it "glory days", it is impossible even for the creator of the universe to bring it back.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

I have to laugh at the glory days comments. The glory days will never be back. Even if God made the game and bestowed it all blessings we would still be kinda bored with some aspects of it. The reason you love mmorpg's back then is simple. It was new and incredibly shiny and nothing else in life was like it. Emotional attachments were made and you felt being on the computer finally had a purpose besides crappy porn sites. If you are  looking for any game to capture that proverbial magic good luck. It's kinda like your first love it happens once, and the rest is history.

Deal with the progression good or bad. You are involved in the evolution of gaming. These are the steps taken to progress to the next level whatever that is.
