Can we just agree that the state of mmorpgs have gotten worse in 2016 so far?

So after a long break I tried to look back into mmorpgs again, owning guild wars 2 I decided to look into it and yep same problems as before, many things are still not even being looked into and the same knee jerk force into playstyles people dont want to play.

I finally gave into neverwinter and gave it a try and loved it but people still complain about p2w at endgame and pvp and its really to bad because I really liked the combat and customization, not to mention its fantasy which I enjoy allot.

I tried blade and soul and it was a cool game but I couldnt get past that story and voice acting.

Ive looked into others but really they are buy to play and im not going to spend my money without a free trial im talking about black desert and eso right now.

I wouldnt mind giving wow another go if I could get into the combat but I cannot, if that was the case id just go back to eq1, hek I would of went back long ago, I couldnt even get back into eq2, single player rpgs have ruined mmorpgs for me lol.

And i already knew everything about the others and looked at them again and yep still in horrible states. So objectively this seems to be the case, and people need to learn to agree on this.

    No.

And if Neverwinter is fun enough that you "loved it" until the endgame, how is that a bad thing?

I can relate to your frustration, but maybe you should try some of the buy to play games before you have a total meltdown.

I think you need to learn the meaning of "objective".  Opinions are not objective.

2016?  Try since like 2008 at the least but I'd put 2004 as the beginning of the end for the genre.  Everyone jumping on the WoW bandwagon and long became the days between innovative and inventive MMO's getting produced.  I used to visit this site 20+ times a day now I'm lucky to visit it 2 times a month.  MMO's are dead to me and nothing on the horizon is changing that.  My new found love has become digital CCG's and ARPG's.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

    No

If I remember correctly then last year about this time the two most hyped games released or about to be released were Echo of Souls and Kabal 2
This year the two most hyped games recently released are Blad & Soul and Black Desert.
In that comparison I think most would agree that 2016 is an improvement.

Biggest reason I m subbed to FFXI(no cash shop) and DAOC(no cash shop) and both still quality games, at this moment. So yes I would agree.

It isnt an opinion, just because one views money making scams as something they do not mind does not mean it isnt objectively bad.

I meant in 2016 they are worse, but yes then for sure.

If there's a game in existence, then there's a streamer or a you-tuber trying to make pennies off of views.  You have no excuse not to know what the game play is like in any game that's currently popular and a few that aren't.

When it comes to recent games like BDO and ESO, then there are hundreds of videos and dozens of streamers so you have double no excuse.

Players vote with their wallets in what is to come, because sadly companies like copying stuff and releasing it with worse quality. WOW is best example for that. This is why it's been 5 years, 3 months and 2 days since I've spent $ on a new product. I only spend $ on what I believe is the future not just for this genre, but gaming in general.

We have plenty of low quality F2P titles, but we lack great, quality products charging $15-35 monthly sub that justifies it.

Well the one good thing about your post is that at least you are honest in the fact that you are not looking for discussion but validation of your opinion. . .

So do you just normally assume things about people? Because I really dont care if people agree with me.

Only if you like classical mmorpgs. Otherwise, the world is peachy.

Things in mmorpgs can be objectively bad rather you admit it or not.

Looks like you need to play Rift or SWTOR.
Are you onto something or just on something?

Rift didnt seem bad but I cant get into the older combat systems like that plus allot of classes use reused animations and I just wasnt digging it, swtor is a single player game with horrid stripped down leveling elements.

how? Nothing is objective when we are talking about if players like games or not.

For example, p2w is *great* if you are a whale.

I'm not sure what the OP is referring to. I'm still enjoying my mmo's.

Because its bad for mmorpg as a whole that has been clear since whales started spending money on games like this because all it did was produce more games like this and now people are sick of it.

So we need to learn to agree with your subjective opinions you call objectivity? I'll pass lol
