Looking for a Fun MMORPG in Open Beta

I am sick of the unbalance in Lineage 2. I still love the game half to death but I dont wanna play it 24/7 like I am at the moment. So I am looking for a new game to play. Now saying that alone is not gonna get me many replys so Ill tell you my preferences...

I like level based games.

I like 3D graphics.

I like BALANCE

I dont like complicity in games.

I like elfs.

I like there to be magic.

I like it to be good for the off and on gamer, casual players to.

I do not like instincing.

I do not like zones.

I know many people will not admit this but you know you liek the grind. It gives you something work for, thus holding you intrest. So I would like a grind (does not have to be long like Lineage 2).

Thats all I could think of. Thanks...

     I have 2 cents on this DarkHeart. Recently I checked out a couple MMORPGs that are in Beta. In fact I found the second one here. They are ROSE online and FLYFF. FLYFF seems to "borrow" almost the entire concept of ROSE (if ROSE was first and I think it was). They have a "kid-ish" quality about them (by design) but that just serves to lighten the tone. Not overly complicated with an enticing level system and sensible magic/skill sets for different character types in both games.  ROSE is notibly superior in my opinion but FLYFF offers some other apsects such as Flying (which is the "FLY" in FLYFF). I have found both to be a delightful distraction from the error prone, suedo-capitalsim of Second Life (which I have all but abaondoned). Both are worth a look see. Also, for something completely different, try Shot-Online. It's a golf game but with a MMORPG setting and a smart leveling and equipment system. I'd like to see threads for all three of those on here.

FLYFF and ROSE both look so kiddish. I just am not attracted towards kiddie 3D graphics. I am more attracted to Lineage 2 and EQ type graphics. Or a cartoonish kind like WoW. Oh also, I like western high fantasy, not eastern high fantasy.

     Yep, as I said they are both kidish. That almost prevented me from checking them out. But I did and I was pleasantly suprised. The avarage age is certainly lower than other games or virtual worlds and that helps keep down the preverts and digenerates (although they are everywhere). All and all (your objection is valid and noted) I still say have a look past level 10 on at least ROSE. That wont be a big investment of time.

Have you ever played Gate to Hevens? It looks like like Lineage 2, but there is nothing new under the sun so ofcourse it is gonna be simular. Plus e-games (which is like one of ther nich companys here I believe) is korean. What doy uo think?

     Funny you mention that... that is one of the 4 I tried recently (ROSE, FLYFF, GTH & Shot-Online). I eliminated a few dozen from information here and a check of their websites, I too was looking for something different to serve as an enjoyable distraction. Admitedly I spent the least time on GTH because i just didnt like the feel. I can't really put my finger on it other then to say it seemed to have less depth. Like it is composed of a few thousand less pages of code then the others I checked. Graphice are not "kidish" but are several notches below the "blow-you-away" quality of ROSE. The game is also less intuative. I have compared the two, I am not a kid either.. and my vote goes to ROSE Online. One serious thumbs up for concept, design and direction. Keeping in mind its's still Beta, of course.

Um...judging by your post you are looking for a well done game, Do not expect much of that in a beta test. If you want all those things you need to go out and buy an actual MMO game. The reason you beta test is so you can test and give input to get all those thigns, not to expect them right when you sign up. If you have all these expectations for a beta game, you need to go out and buy an actual game. The whole point of beta testing is to test the game, its not supposed to be a free game that is perfect and give no imput.

     Well said hawk. You are right of course. I have even thrown a big thumbs up at ROSE with full knowledge of the Beta consideation. It has its bugs and flaws which are to be expected in Beta and even in initial release but despite that it runs axtremely well and is packed with features. It is possible to find a quality, well developed game in Beta, this is one of them.

DOFUS is a complete and original MMORPG which makes the difference thanks to cartoonish graphics, tactical battles and a new system of updates (automatic downloads) and connection (from almost everywhere using Windows, Mac or Linux). Unfortunately for you Darkheart2, graphics are in 2D....But...we never know, maybe you will love it....

I was looking at ROSE Online more closely and it looks like something I might like. The graphics are kidish but asians seem to like it and asai is becoming pretty big so I might as well trust asains to know what they are doing when it comes to games. Hopefully the game will not be left by the developers after it goes p2p. Ill check it out and post my impression...
