Without much fanfare (yes, that was a pun), Daybreak released a patch to venerable, old EQ1 this week. About the biggest change was all the Franklin Teek daily quests underwent a significant change. Yes, the long familiar hot zones have changed. The higher end quests took me to expansions that I was completely unfamiliar with.
The only real problem is that travel to the new destinations is dreadful. Where the older quests were within 3-4 zones travel, the new hot zones are really far-flung (4+ zones away), especially when you're visiting an immense (and empty) intermediate zone for the first time. I generally play only an hour a day, but running to the target zone can easily take that long. I don't know (yet) if the new hot zones are remotely close to wizard/druid ports. But, hailing a ride isn't as easy as it used to be.
It may be nothing, but at least the same set of hot zones has changed, with appropriate restrictions to the various progression servers. And it proves that someone at Daybreak is awake.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
