I started late with gamig..... think I was 25-26 when WoW was in Alpha. Was my first MMO. In Holland one does not need a Creditcard. So I use my moms CC when I need one, but always wire her the money straight away. Nowadays only Kickstarter requires a CC, the rest can be paid with Paypal. I don't do Kickstarters anyway.
funnily enough i end up paying for my parent since my mother likes the ipad air 2 i got her for her retirement and i get phone calls at work asking me to pick a itunes card up for her
No, I was already 20 years old when started playing mmos with a full time job. Parents did help me paying/paid video games at younger age since I started pc gaming at the age of 5.
My parents hated and still game video games. They did not support any of my gaming habit. I'm sure that if they had the option, they would have paid to have someone sneak into the house at night to smash my computer and consoles.
I started mowing lawns in '93 to scrape together cash for MTG booster packs and PC games (gold box ftw). To be fair, while they didn't like that I played games, they would drive me to game stop and Comp USA (remember Comp USA? lol).
Always paid for my computers and my games, even I when was a teenager. E.g. I bought one of the very first Amiga 1000 in France back then with my own money. That meant finding some job, of course, and moving my ass. Something the younger "give it to me" generations seem to have forgotten.
They didnt have personal computers when I was young, (nor CD players, calculators, or more than 4 local tv channels) so we had to save our money for motorcycles.
Just trying to live long enough to play a new, released MMORPG, playing New Worlds atm

I started with a Keystone pull start and cleaned my dad's shop all summer for a 73 honda z50
When I was young we went to the arcade to play games lol. Atari came out when I was about 7 years old and I was in heaven. Still the arcade was the place to go and hangout...

My parents wouldn't even get windows for the crappy Tandy they had when I was growing up lol. Not that I was into PC gaming/gaming then anyway, I had the usual Atari-nintendo-snes-PS1 growing up as they were always what we got for Christmas, I was always more interested in Skateboards and guitars though. I didn't play my first MMORPG until I was about 22. By then I lived on my own with my GF (now wife). She's who really got me into playing on-line games (DAOC), so no parents never paid for my on-line gaming habits. My wife has at some points over the last decade+ though .

I was weaned on electronic communication because my dad was in TV. I would have bought my own games in the early 80s, but these stupid child labor laws prevented me.
First MMO was SWG xmas 2003. I was still in sixth form, didn't have a job so was living of parents money. Think I got £40 per month allowance so spent £8.99 on SWG sub.
I quit SWG when I went to uni in 2004 and didn't play another MMO until LotRO released, by which point I was earning so paid for it myself.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman

I loved the Amiga. Commodore made a mistake by not supporting it better. It was a pattern with a lot of products the put out.

But my kids do receive an allowance and they can spend that on anything (within reason).
