Thinking of returning....

Hi folks, I am currently contemplating returning to HZ, I was wondering how the game has changed; I started playing a week after launch in Dec '03, and quit in Sept. '04, logging over 2500 hours with my Elfin Elemental Archer, Oreene Firehair on Spirit shard.

I quit playing right after the server consolidation. I was wondering if the level 100 cap has been removed, if collision detection has been implemented, if the database lag is still significant, etc., also was wondering if the following players were still around: Bori Grimbattle, Arirabeth, Arremus, Jenni, Duergos, or anyone else that might remember me.

Also would be interested in any other significant improvements/changes. Thanks in advance.

Honestly the best thing for you to do would be to go to the forums at community.istaria.com and make a hello post there.  You can put your questions there and people will answer them, or you can browse the forums.

I quit just after merger too, and came back a couple weeks ago and all I can say is that the game has changed tremendously for the better.  I am still learning new stuff daily.  It is worth returning just to see all that.  Not sure about ELARs but pretty sure they got some lovin' along the way.

Bori Grimbattle is still active in game and on the forums but I don't know about the others.

Lots of players are returning, and they receive a warm welcome from old friends and new ones alike : )

Collision detection: Not yet.
Raising the cap: Not yet.
Lag: Vastly improved.

Raising the cap is in the pipe, but the schedule for the immediate future looks like this: ARoP, Lairs, Confectioners (may include an overhaul of the death penalty system), and then ability balancing (which may entail class balancing, and which must be done before the level cap can be raised.).

Welcome back to HZ.  To answer your questions: The level cap hasn't been raised, though it is possible to obtain a rating greater than 100.  Collision detection still isn't in.  Database lag is nowhere near as bad as it used to be (seems almost every patch has some improvement that reduces lag).

Not sure which server those people played on.  Since consolidation, there are two NA shards (Chaos and Order), plus the EU one (Unity).

Yup, it's available - though you'll be lucky to find anyone with it yet since there haven't been many ELARs around for a while, I'm pretty sure you being an ELAR will appreciate why that came to be. Which brings me to my second point. ELARs needed love. ELARs got love. Scroll down on the following web page until you hit the school-specific changes

Bori and Arirabeth are still playing if you resume your existing char you will be on the order shard with them
