Cheap TLC NAND with yesterday's controller. It's cheap but not impressive.

The author says that vendors don't provide random read/write specs, but that's not true. Lower end vendors don't. Good vendors do. Both Samsung and Micron/Crucial provide random iops ratings, encryption options, etc.

An SSD is not where I would cheap out on a build.

I thought by now all vendors have settled for quality memory and controllers, but then i still keep reading about some SSDs have suddenly been dead from one day to another after 3-4 month.
And i was just tempted to go for an el cheapo SSD from a local media market myself...MUST RESIST!!

Just ocz drives. They make pretty good drives. I have one in my laptop.
"AMD"'s Radeon SSDs used to be just rebranded Patriot SSDs.  It's possible that they went with a different vendor now, but it's really just the real SSD manufacturer paying AMD to let them use the AMD Radeon brand name on it.  They do the same with memory, but you're really dealing with the other vendor, not AMD.

These days, OCZ is just a brand name for Toshiba, anyway.

What makes you think they don't provide specs?

Upon further review, they're actually manufactured by Galt.

If they use a 3rd party controller, then there's no reason to pick these over Intel or Samsung SSD's whose controllers are superior. It's all about the controller they use when it comes to SSD.
