Maybe you don't care about animation, but to some people it's very perceptible. Some people don't see the difference between 60 and 120 Hz monitors, but I can very clearly see the difference. Some people don't see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS (frametimes being equal) but I certainly do.

yes I know some people look over the vast majority of game play because of animations similarly as I do with respect to art style.

I agree, BDO is really not that special. Graphics are nice and gameplay is above average, yes there is a reasonably big world but still...it's not as new and fresh as people on mmorpg.com make it out to be. This is honestly the only website where I see so many BDO fanboys.
I have to confess that I had a similar experience. Even though I played for a few hours(plus a few hours in creation) I had probably made up my mind within the first 15 minutes of play.
I partially blame it on my frustration with the character creation tools but I was also immediately turned off by the huge amount of art assets in my face at all times. I didn't feel that my character fit aesthetically into the world and I also really disliked the NPC interactions. After a couple more hours with combat I threw in the towel. Ironically, my worst experience in the game was one of the most hyped, the character creator.
I was considering purchasing it to give it a more solid chance but some of the snyde responses here are convincing me that it would be a waste of time.

basically same here.
I mean to be fair I am not really looking for a new game anyway and what I am gaming at the moment already takes up more time then I have but the character art style and the camera use was a deal breaker for me. If its something I am physically seeing 90% of my gaming time, its an important thing
