I wasn't aware something had to be different to be fun.

Can't disagree with you, but MMO are tend to be generic these days, so being "different" is kind of like a new norm of "fun."

We have had lots of hyped fps titles that offered short-term fun and that had fanboys in a wild fury, for a month or two and then they bailed on them.

    Titanfall
    Star Wars battlefront
    Evolve

Why is Overwatch different?  To me it looks identical and will follow the exact same path of those games, as in big for a couple of months and then huge player drops with the remaining few being milked to death with micro transactions.

Do gamers really never learn and are doomed to constantly repeat the same routine every time?  Seems like it to me!
As others have said if a game is good for X hours what's the problem. Not sure about the "microtransactions" comment either, DLC sure but they are not micro-transactions.

Basically if you enjoyed Team Fortress 2 you will most likely enjoy Overwatch.  It is basically the same type of game.

What makes it different is Blizzards polish and massive marketing budget.

The game is decent but it's level of polish in comparison to competition (Battleborn, Paladins, Paragon, Giganitic, Lawbreakers and on and on....) is obvious.

Again the marketing budget Blizzard has for Overwatch is many times the entire development cost of the competition, it's impossibly hard to compete with that.
It is definitely more polished than Paladins , Paragon, and Gigantic but I don't see much difference in terms of "polish" between this and Battleborn. BB might even have the upper hand in that regard, while Paladins really isn't even in the same league.

If you're going to use games as a comparison I would use  Battleborn, Paladins, Team Fortress 2, and Gigantic.

No clue if it will be extremely successful. It's not relevant to me right now, or maybe ever. I just know one thing and that's how much fun I have when I play. What it does right and wrong are not relevant if you're having a good time playing it, and I have been. At least this game is very transparent. You know, or at least should with a cursory Youtube or Google search, exactly what you'll get for your money. That's a lot more than I can say for most games these days.

Didn't play Battleborn long enough to say if it has the same level of polish in things like animations. However, the engine certainly isn't as polished as the one Overwatch is using. Overwatch is having no issues running for me. Smooth as silk. Battleborn ran almost as bad as Wildstar for me.

    Both run fine for me.

OW is by far IMO much more polished and overall feel of "done" and "ready" game to me. I like BB , but it s just not on the same level as OW, IMO.

This is a game that will sell poorly (for Blizzard standards) and also die very quickly. It's a glorified F2P game after all.

It can't compete with Mobas, nor can it compete with Cod, CS etc. Overwatch is a weird mix of both moba/shooter, except of a very low quality on both sides. Moba fans won't bother, and neither will shooter fans. So for who is this game again? What's the point of it?

Ever since WoW began dying, Blizzard is yet to release an actual good game let alone a great one. It's only selling because of the Blizzard sheeps (which are the biggest jokes in entire gaming), they'd buy anything. They've been creating games for 10-12yrd olds for years now, and I just can't take them serious anymore.

You really think its low quality? I thought it was pretty awesome. I like the mix of character abilities with the shooter mechanic, and its done so much better than Paladins which is the game that is closest to it in style.

He's kidding while being drunk, and he sounds like the sloth from Zootopia (wait, how am I supposed to know that?!)

    F2P? Da hell, it's B2P.
It can't compete with mobas? Funny, it's not even released..

I like overwatch and I am decent at it which is surprising because I am terrible at FPS games.  I have only tried a few heroes but I am by FAR the best with Bastion.  I do not know if I will buy the game through.  The price tag is a bit steep and will probably get bored with it after so long.  I would like to see bigger maps and more game modes....

It's ok.  Gigantic is so much better though.

Played a bit of it during a stress test a couple weeks ago.  It doesn't seem different than Team Fortress and is nothing special.  I've yet to check it out during the open beta.
Playing quite a bit of the OB currently.

It feels like a more superficial TF2...and last I checked TF2 is still free so unless Blizzard fan boys are strong with this one it'll be dead in 60 days from release

Enjoying Battleborn right now.  The co-op modes are fun and some of the maps and harder difficulties are actually pretty damn hard unless your team is on point and balanced.  I haven't played much PvP yet but people are saying good things about it too.  I really enjoy the humor in Battleborn that is very reminiscent of Borderlands...if you like Borderlands you will definitely enjoy Battleborn.  I have not played Overwatch yet but from what I have watched they seem to be very different games, both worth purchasing for completely different reasons.

Yes the game is fun, if you ignore the ability to one shot peeps :|
You can one shot people in Battlefield games, COD games, Counter-Strike games, TF2, etc. etc.... So yes, the game is fun, but one shotting is not an excuse for failure.

you also have to aim to one shot people in those games, in OW I can run into the middle of the entire team hit my " special " and kill them all. its pretty cheesy.

It's not any different at all. It's an incomplete game, a FTP model that forces you to pay, billed as an e-sport with little to no content.

The only thing Blizzard seems to have spent time on is the graphics, everything else is sup-par or plain bad.

Small maps, no customization (besides cosmetic), can't even choose maps, ect.

If it wasn't for the Blizzard name people would be bitching their heads off.

I played it for a bit and it's just got nothing to do.

I would like to add that if you enjoy it so be it and have fun. So no hard feelings and all.

    - It's Blizzard, so many Blizzard fans who would not try a TF2 style game otherwise. People who play Hearthstone, D3 or WoW will be notified about the open beta on their launcher.

    - It's Blizzard. Blizzard knows how to take a known game concept, make it easy to get into and fun. This also helps (together with first point) to bring in people who otherwise would maybe not care about a TF2 style game.

    - It's Blizzard, so you will get loads of media coverage and if the game is even remotely fun, it will become popular.

And this is coming from someone not interested in playing this game, but I expect it will become a success.

because its Blizzard i really thought it would be a better game, especially since they are charging money for it. Hell i wish it was better im looking for something to kill some time in....but sadly this game is very shallow and gets boring quick, not worth 60 bucks imo.

and i thank blizzard for the open beta, once again a beta saves me money.
