Why do you think the past event has still not been sent out? I will bet after July 8th people do not recieve any coffee mugs for acouple of months down the road if not later. Sorry to disillusion you but my facts are better backed up by any that a fanboi has to say.

A fanboi isnt someone who defends their game, it's someone who bashes any game but. A Troll is someone who repeatedly flames the same game over and over, usually with the same tired rhetoric.

    Opinions, not truths.

  • ShadrakShadrak Member Posts: 375

opinions are all either side has fanboi or troll. There is no TRUTH about Horizons except that the majority of those who have tried it didnt like it for whatever reason and decided not to support it with a monthly subscription.

    Truth: I haven't crashed yet

Truth: none of the problems I sought out looking for have been there, or have been so greatly exaggerated as to be ridiculous-I'm still playing

Truth: I have fun and am constantly happy when I'm playing Horizons

Other than that, who cares. Keep bashing it or keep praising it, I'll be playing anyway. Hope everyone finds a game they like instead of just pissing all over games they don't. How lame is that? image

anyway..enough is enough. I dont want to playthis game anymore! ::::20::

lol angry? Where was I angry? Where did I call someone a name cuz they didn't agree? Please show me I will admit when I'm wrong. I merely want people to get both sides of the coin.

Last time I talked to you (well posting back and forth) we were very friendly and you said you were gonna try the game again but R/L got in the way.  How did it go or were you still unable to give it an honest go?

The last thing I am is angry, I'm happy image Horizons is not perfect, but it doesn't deserve to be trolled maliciously. It's just a game, and a charming and FUN one at that.

    I
I love how you say this and yet.. ive seen 2 people consistantly bash this game.. and yet its not ok for more than 2 to back it up? Ive never played this game but i will very soon. I just love how you have nothing in game to bash it for except things that i have read been fixed. As long as people like you are not playing it..it should be AWESOME.

ROFL, you never played it yet you say things have been fixed that I brought up. You only have proof of that from the few fanbois that said it on this board. Sorry but they are the ones not telling the truth, everything I stated about things in game are still broke. You really need to try game soon to see all these things are still broke.

I played for 5 hours tonight and didn't crash once, still haven't crashed yet. I'm still searching and searching within Horizons for a reason to play EQ2 or WoW or Guild Wars or SWG instead, all of which I own. I still haven't found a reason yet but I'll keep you all posted. image

I hope Manga doesn't read this thread.  Sure won't help ease the stress he's under.

But just in case: Hope you are feeling better, Manga!

    Ooops wrong thread.  Nevermind.

Isn't all of them being superior games to Horizons enough? (Though GW is not an MMO... it is still far superior to Horizons as well)

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

EQ2 and WoW are superior to HZ in some aspects, no doubt.  But HZ blows them away in others (for example, HZ's character customization and crafting system leave WoW sucking wind).  It all depends on your personal preferences.

In your opinion, I so disagree with that. Only the UI can be put as great in HZ but then again in WOW or EQ2 there is also nothing you can't do with the UI. Then they say a flying dragon is superior for HZ and yet SB did it first and far better.

"Better?"  That's too simplistic.  No game is flat out "better" than others.  They are all different, and it is a matter of taste which one you choose to play.

ROFL, really a game with superior low pops is in no way comparable to games that can stand on own legs with much higher pops. Remember over 46k people can't be wrong about HZ only the few left playing it can. IMHO

That's right.  They are in no way comparable.  They cannot be compared.  They are like apples and oranges, and there is no point in trying to say that one is better than the other.  Analogy:  Ohio State University has 50,000 students (or something like that).  Grinnell College has 1500 students.  Ohio State is not "better" than Grinnell, and vise versa.  They are just different from each other.  And there is really no point in trying to prove that one is better.  In fact, it's a waste of time to try to do that.

    Different strokes for different folks.

Far superior in many aspects, except they bore the heck out of me! It's like Waterworld, a HUGE budget movie with all the right stars and a great story that abolutely does NOTHING for me!

Some of the features sound amazing and I heard they're planning on making some nice expansions and reintroducing the game basically. For some reason the smallness of the community really appeals to me, even though I hate it when theres no other people around. I think the fact that so many people overlooked this game makes me want to play it so I can enjoy the things others are missing. I really hope this game picks up (50 K subscribers would be nice)

I must say this is the most fair review I have seen so far about HZ.

After 18 months, Horizons is still not ready for primetime, and keep that in mind at all times. In many areas, it is extremely rudimentary, definitely a game that feels last generation. I would suggest that every game designer and would-be game designer give it a whirl and play it for a month, since some of the systems are remarkably solid. Crafting stands out and they’ve built up a good community, but I can’t see anything that would keep me playing long-term. All in all, it’s a good effort, and if some misguided set of ethics is keeping you from playing it—here’s a pro tip, every company wants to make money—then you are denying yourself an interesting experience. As a might’ve been, it’s exceptional. And if you don’t mind the lack of interesting kill missions, it’s definitely one to check out. I’d give this a cautious recommendation for those looking for something a little different in their fantasy MMO.

Wow I actually agree with your assessment.  The review seems pretty fair, if a bit florid in style and cynical in outlook.  But pretty fair nonetheless.
  • KhoalKhoal Member Posts: 84

Or, if people want to read a fair and balanced review from someone who has played the game since Beta (and not someone who admits: "Truth be told, I went in completely prepared to hate the game. It was one I was eager to dislike."), read Silverdrake's review on Warcry's forums.  It's the second post.

  • KhoalKhoal Member Posts: 84

    double post, sorry.

  • ungrimagrolungrimagrol Member UncommonPosts: 154

    Another good one.  Thanks Khoal.

In committing myself to this game, and supporting it, I am not asserting that it doesn't have any flaws.  This game is not for everyone.  It's not even an easy game to play; adventuring in particular takes skill and tactics, and getting it to run nicely on your machine may take a bit of fiddling.

Having said that though, I will assert that this game has heart and soul, as do the developers and the loyal players, and that makes it pretty special.

You call that a fair review? It is a one post wonder. No one can trust a one post wonder. image

"I mean, David recently hinted in IRC that there may be ways for player made game assets to be included as well, dragon lair decorations and structures seeming to be intended as the initial test run of this concept."

ROFL, yeah DB also said there would be furniture for bipid housing. That review is like saying the interview on this site with DB is also all true. Just like if the one that did that DB interview does that critical review it would be all one sided, not fair at all. image

Yes, I call it a fair review.  It reflects a deeper knowledge of the game than the editorial it is responding to.  And calling it a fair review isn't to say that it is "right" or that I agree with it.  Just that it seems fair to me, based on my own knowledge of the game.
