LG just released a 200 dollar VR set also.. it is meant to run with their G5 but uses a USB-C connection and runs off the hardware of the phone rather than a strap in like the gear VR. You can buy them online or in some stores from what I hear.

I wonder how much of this is directly related to googles new VR platform. I doubt it because that was revealed just two days
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Daydream will likely make its way in August with release of the Note, or possibly get a jump with a nexus phone.
What LG is doing is actually trying to build up the modular market for the G5. This, as far as I know, is the first mobile pass through set. It uses the phones power, but it actually has a screen inside the set, so it's basically running it like if you were to hook a Rift to a PC.
Not a great idea, and the reviews haven't been stellar.
Yes, Oculus really screwed up pre-orders, no doubt
Did you look at the product? It is for cell phones to be inserted, similar to Google's Cardboard. It is not competing with Oculus Rift at all. It is like comparing a Game Boy game to a PC game.

The idea of using the handset's power to drive the VR headset is a really great idea, but probably not going to work well on current tech. Give it a few years though...
This concept is the one sure-fire way to bring VR to the masses, but it will need a few leaps in phone power before it is at an acceptable level of quality for anything other than watching movies on a virtual "big screen".

I am not suggesting that its competing with Oculus Rift. I am just illustrating in that comments that Oculus screwed up pre-orders but not that its a competitor of this headset. Just showing ther eis another headset out there already
