Its weird, I would have thought the devs would test the game on a mid-range rig before release (even for EA).

I assume it must be playable without all the low fps and load screen bugs etc being reported since I have seen videos with smooth footage. Are there other factors at play that make a game's performance tank besides the power of a computer? Surely on the devs' side they had reasonably smooth gameplay before putting it up for EA?

I am just trying to understand how this works and why even mid-range rigs (eg one steam reviewer has  GTX970, 8gb RAM, i5-4690) have bad performance. Also wondering how my computer would run it (gtx980ti, i7-6700K@4ghz, 16gb ram).

I'm guessing problems with the different driver combinations out there.  When Watchdogs came out it crashed all over the place on my pc but ran fine on my gaming laptop.

    I had to ask for a refund since it´s unplayable on my i-5 2500K on a GTX 560Ti with 8Gb ram :(

Your gfx card is probably the main culprit, it's below the minimum requirements listed on the game's steam page.
