Depends if the ennemy has you locked, if you can lock more ships and if you have auto-lock turned on. If an ennemy targets you and you have auto-lock on, it will automatically target the ennemy back AFTER it has finished locking onto your ship. Of course, if you already have the max number of ships locked, it will not do anything and if you auto-target turned off, it won't do anything on it's own.
I find the best way to lock fast moving targets is simply zooming out, even if they are moving 4,000 m/s + , they are fairly easy to select.

I always target things through the mini-scanner in the upper right. Just ctrl+click on your target in the menu and it locks it, works nice for those fast moving things.
I didn't say the guy I was targetting wasen't showing up on my overview, I said the guy I was targetting was not setup to show on my overview, there is quite a difference.

Why the hell would you have it setup for people not to show on your overview? Doesn't matter who it is, everybody should be on it.
Wow, I'm guessing you must be really effective in a fleet battle when there are more than 75 targets showing up ... yeah ... lol.
Even with the improvements made to the graphical rendering and the ability to turn effects off, when you got more than 100 ships firing at each other, the game lags, kind of to be expected. When your lagging like mad, you don't want to be flumbling through your overview looking for your primary targets, you want them to be right dead smack in your face.
As for having everything in your overview, if you keep corp mates and alliance mates in your overview for other than special ops, you should be kicked out of your corp asap.

Yeah use the overview
Make a difference!
Overview dosen't work when you target is not setup to show up on it. No further questions on that though
