The UEE Fleet (= number of player ships) has exceeded the one million mark.
Currently at 1.007.669 ships
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/(counter at bottom of the page)
Almost 1.4 million Star Citizens (=1,396,960) and almost 116 M$ crowdfunding (=115,972,759 $).
Seems a lot of people wanted a Drake Dragonfly space "motorcycle" ;-) cause the number of ships jumped significantly compared to yesterday.
Have fun

Putting LTI on the Dragonfly has turned it into the cheapest LTI token for a good while now. Kind of strange that despite LTI not being of much value people ascribe so much value to it. Quite a few people blame the grey market for that.
Truly the marketing marvel in modern gaming.

Multiplayer ships: Constellation
Everything else: Hornet
That rule works for all ships. On the live server. Loaner matrix is disabled on PTU server because there you can get any available ships from the ship dispensers for free and as often as you want anyway.
Have fun
And everyone else has a loaner ship (either a Hornet or a Constellation) to help test the Alpha.
CIG ship pipeline fast tracks all ships needed for the Squadron42 solo game. Some other ships not used in SQ42 (e.g. the Endeavor science ship) have a lower priority at the moment and will become available later.
Have fun
PS:
Ben Lesnick dev post on ship pipeline fast tracking
https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/6757209/#Comment_6757209
"Hello! There's a number of reasons we might fast-track a ship. These are some of the big ones:
- Use in Squadron 42. Ships needed for Squadron 42's single player campaign are a major priority. That includes many of the military and aggressor ships you'd expect, and also a number of civilian ones that will play into the plot and also give more texture to the universe.
- Use for introducing/testing a new mechanic. We often aim to finish a 'class leader' ship for developing and testing different mechanics: the base Constellation for multicrew, the Starfarer for capital ships, the Herald for information running... all the way back to the Hornet for dogfighting!
- Resources are available. You may have noticed we had a major push for Aegis ships a few months back and now several Drake ones are in development simultaneously. That's not a coincidence! For major manufacturers, we spend a good bit of time at the start of the process developing design language, toolkits, general rules... and once these are in good shape, it lets us tackle those ships with more of a group mindset than one after another. (This is also why some of the more exotic ships--as excited as we are about them!--are further down the line; we need to make sure we have cool Banu resources before tackling the merchantman in-engine!)
- What's going to be fun in the alpha right now? We have lots of mechanics in the works (cargo, exploration, science, salvage, etc.) that go right along with some role-specific ships... but at the same time, these ships won't be much fun until we're pushing those out and testing them with you (and in fact many are being finalized based on that work.) A speedy little motorcycle can be set up quick and offer some pretty fun and different gameplay near term (similar to why we built out the Merlin before the Constellation could launch it!)
In the case of the Dragonfly, It's a combination of several of these points... most importantly, the fact that it introduces a new kind of gameplay that (as part of the concept sale this time around) we wanted to prototype out before offering the ship! "
and a follow up post why Lesnick labelled the Starfarer as "capital ship":
"There's two ways of thinking: inside the Star Citizen universe, the Starfarer isn't a capital ship... since that'd refer to a particular sort of fighting ship (destroyers, cruisers, etc.) and it's a dedicated support ship. But from an under-the-hood game building perspective, it uses (and premieres) many of the 'big ship' systems that we then go on to use with 'ships of the line' (from the processes for constructing a ship that size to the physics grids, the seat functions, ability of the game to spawn such large ships, etc.) I think we try and say 'capital-sized ship' in in lore material that needs to distinguish the two. "

The including image is far more informative as it shows all ships that have been sold to the Citizens.
