I have a sad story about all the latest MMO's I have gave a try over the past 1.5 years looking for a replacement for EQ1 that I haven't touched for that 1.5 years. Although I will state that WoW was very good for a couple of fast lvl 60 runs, but is a bit to arcadish for my liking. But nonetheless a very good game.
I would also like to add that it is my opinion that EQ1 was the best MMO ever made to date but after 6 years I had my fill. I will skip giving my full opinion and disappointment on EQ2. I just cant believe they even had the nerve to release such crap. But that is neither here nor there.
The reason for my trip to the forum today is to get a little info on SwG. I bought the game way back when. It had no expansions but it wasn't new at that point. It was fun. I call it a living, breathing world. The action is as fast as you want it or you could simple relax and do other things. The reason I left I do not remember. I think it seemed to be dying off a bit. I could be wrong.
Now that the game has had time to evolve and we are now 2 expansions into it I would like to know if the popularity and population is on the rise. Some say it is more popular now then ever before. I plan to head to EB and getting the Total Experience release and firing the game back up if it is worth it. I'm hoping to learn this by my post here.

I personally think that the combat system in EQ1 was ingenious. Nothing else about the game was all that great, massive content though. I enjoyed being able to use a seemingly endless number of skills to beat a player in a duel, that was the best part imo. I can't count how many time I pulled the old 'penny on the ground' trick with my level 1 enchanter spell Minor Illusion, the single most useful level 1 spell in the game hehe.
Bards were the most fun imo, just so many things you could do, and more than 1 song per level to learn!
Extremely fun. The game play itself was a huge grief though. There was just way too much downtime for my taste. Get in a fight for 30 seconds, spend the next 10 minutes recovering.
Galaxies is worth it. Go buy the Complete Experience, I'm enjoying it a lot more than the original version. It's buggy, often game breaking. But you can't help liking it.

Yes, it's worth it.
This topic has been done to death a bit but if you enjoyed it before you'll enjoy it now. I'd recommend buying the "Total Experience" Box set though so that you get Jump to Lightspeed and Rage of the Wookies. (I recommend the box set because even with broadband the download takes a long time for the digital purchase and patching is pretty long too).

I just came back to the game, although I didn't get the "Total Experience", I did download the expansions. I'm having a blast. I really enjoy the space battles even thought I initially thought I would hate them.
Err you haven't been playing much lately have you? We have huge PVP fights fairly regularly on Lowca. The imps just held a major campaign to retake control of Tatooine from the Rebels. Rebels staged a counter attack as well.
And PVP on Talus (on Lowca) has increased a lot lately as 2 or 3 rebel guilds moved in and set up shop on a mostly imp planet.
