Mass Effect Andromeda got you stoked?

I'm looking at the trailer and the available information and I have to admit this game has me stoked.  So far it looks like an open universe where you will explore.  What we have seen is vehicle travel on planet surface as well as the Character getting out of the vehicle and walking around.  First contact with aliens and beasts.    What we do not know is how they will deal with space travel or if it will have space combat.

Have you decided on purchasing this game yet?
Are you onto something or just on something?

Would love to see some real gameplay footage.

I don't buy games before I have seen longer gameplay footage, with todays bioware I need to read player reviews because I don't trust game sites to review bioware games after they got it completely wrong on dragon age inquisition.

I'll definitely purchase it and am cautiously optimistic, though I'm worried that, like Dragon Age: Inquisition, I'll like it but not love it the same way as the original trilogy. Life without Shepard will be....difficult. *glances at avatar*

Mass Effect has the same effect (no pun intended) that Gears of War has for me personally. I'm excited about it and i'll get them both and enjoy them but i doubt they'll be as good/memorable as the original trilogy.

I loved the ME trilogy.  Probably my favorite game series from last gen.  I'm looking forward to the new one as well.  I will enjoy it and move on.

Next to the Splinter Cell series Mass Effect has been my favorite series, looking forward to this one.

The game could be a flaming bag of poo and I'd probably still buy it because it's Mass Effect.

It might not be ME:4, but it will have similar game play and it certainly looks like slick sci-fi, so I'm in for the ride !

Slightly apprehensive though, I hope it has a good story arc and isn't just exploiting the ME brand...

Regardless of how good the game is, half of the player reviews will be something along the lines of "0/10 EAware sucks!"

I will probably get it cheap after it has been out for a bit.  Honestly, I think 3 was a step back for the series and I think the EA hurt Bioware.  I have low expectations and may not purchase it all if it looks awful.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I don't decide based on metascore, I look at what people write.

If the only thing people have to say is EAware sucks its a great game. However, in regards to DAI people mostly spoke about the butchered tactical mode that was promised to fans of DA:O, something gaming "journalists" mostly ignored in their reviews because they never cared for a tactical mode in the first place.

It was the characters, stories and gameplay that made me enjoy ME1-3, all the trailer showed was veneer.

No Shepard means no Mass Effect. It would be like making a Witcher 4 without Geralt.

Another factor is how they butchered the series as it went on. The first one was very much an RPG, the second was dumbed down considerably, with a much more linear style of play, limited missions, limited gear, etc. The third one turned it into a straight cover shooter. The characters and their interactions were still quite good, but mechanically it was all shooter, no RPG.

And then we get to the story. They completely retroactively ruined the entire series for me. The horrible, shit endings that didn't make any sense aside, the writing was horrible. The entire goddamn thing was based on a contrivance, what with the crucible and the star child bullshit. The Reapers' motive was stupid beyond belief, especially given that Sovereign stated on several occasions that we couldn't possibly understand the Reaper's purpose. Yeah, it sounds pretty simple to me. Stupid, but simple.

Never mind that they also completely ignored  HUGE plot points presented in ME2, the largest being Tali's research, and the reason the Reapers were liquefying people to make a human reaper.

Ugh, this is going on longer than I intended. Bottom line is, I won't be touching any non-MMO Bioware makes for a long, long time, if ever. With their shitty writing, they ruined what I considered one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time.

They're dead to me. Just another money-grubbing extension of Electronic Arts. It's Origin Systems all over again.

Edit: Don't forget, all three games were just a story some old guy was telling his grandkids. That's just one step away from the hated, loathed, and reviled, "It was all a dream" ending. The only time that works without inciting rage is when it's established at the beginning that things aren't what they seem.

    Sequel Spectacle titles:
If you didn't buy #1, you'll have little or no interest in #5.

If you loved #1, you'll probably buy #5 (reviews only rarely interrupt the nostalgia motive).

    Undecided.

I wasn't very optimistic about the series before i played ME1 but when it was on a steam sale i bought it, And loved the heck out of it.

ME is the one series that sticks out in my mind, which i was wrong about. So im going to be more optimistic about this one.

It's not an open universe, BioWare do not make open world RPGs.

Cautiously optimistic.  After what Bioware did to DAI, I'm not getting hyped at all for this one.  Never mind the fact that they completely remove the main characters that made the franchise what it was.

Someone mentioned that they would buy it "if it were a flaming bag of poo because its Mass effect", I'm sure that is what Bioware is hoping will happen.

Something tells me that with all the changes Bioware has gone through over the years and even recently, that this new Mass Effect game will disappoint more than it will please.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I'm a big ME fan, even if they did fuck up the ending. I do think that ME without Shepard will be a bit like mac and cheese without the cheese but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll pick it up if I read good reviews.

Edit: I probably should have voted undecided.

I really want to like Mass Effect.  The characters and writing are excellent.  But, it throws a very arcade combat system at me.  Let's put it this way -- I played the demo (ME1), and ran totally out of ammo (all kinds) before I got through it.  Sadly, for me, this one isn't my dream non-linear Traveler game I've hoped for for a dozen+ years.

    I'll keep watch, and hope.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

That was ME2.  yea they had quite the ammo problem but the upside was you had to use several different weapons.  ME1 the ammo was energy based so you just waited for cooldown and had more.

I have to admit I tend to be the total opposite with repeat characters.  I kind of get sick of seeing the same old character over and over and prefer that IPs move on and expand.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the Shepard story, but like the KOTOR series back when it arrived, I was sure glad to see something different than the same old characters.  Yet, of course, now we are back to the same old Star Wars characters again... sigh.(Not that it matters, that latest Star Wars stuff has been so horrible anyway).

As I mentioned in another article, I'm much more disappointed about another human-centric focus.  We are ditching Shepard and moving on to a bigger and better... Shepard?

Seriously, who wouldn't rather play a Krogan or a Turian or something completely new?

I wonder if the original Bioware would have done something unique this time around, instead of a rehash for the EA overlords.
