I see a lot of people don't like Overwatch on this website. And normally they don't care to jump and write something in every Overwatch article and discussion. And you have blueturtle13, Distopia and SEANMCAD... If you hate Overwatch this much why are you trying to write something about every kitten Overwatch news you see? I see you 3 in every kitten think about Overwatch. Sorry but this is just pathetic...
Who said I hate Overwatch? I can't think of a single game that I "hate"... BTW this whole not responding to or reading things you don't like works both ways...

I suppose over the years there has been a bit of mission creep here at mmorpg.com, where this site covers more than just traditional mmorpgs.
But I think that reflects the blurring of once brighter lines between games, game systems and game sectors in the industry.
Also, a game can be relevant for more than one reason. For example, Blizzard's success with Overwatch is going to have an effect on future games Blizzard makes, and games that other mmorpg game makers make. So while OW is not in my opinion a mmorpg, it will certainly impact some quarters of the mmorpg industry.

Listen if your looking for the website to kiss your feet because you post a lot or that your opinion should matter more than the rest of us well I don't think you'll find it. I think you need a hug and maybe some bamboo. As if this was serious matter on a gaming website is comical at best.

I asked a sensible question, what you're inferring is outlandish... I simply asked would they prefer feedback or would they prefer folks move elsewhere silently. How is that expecting my feet to be kissed or anything else you imply?
If you actually read my posts, you'd see.. I said cover it all they want, but if they're going to, they should include other games of it's type in that coverage, not just one special snowflake.

The funny part is f2p games with optional subs dominate and the supposed successful moorpg, ffxiv isnt even in the top 5. No wonder its going p2w with update 4.
Do you have something related to the source of that or are you just stating and opinion?
What about instead of a newspost whenever a copy of Overwatch got sold we get some introduction on MXM?
There is this alpha key giveaway thrown at us with no further background or info on the game.
I like Overwatch. I also like seeing stories on MMORPG.com about it, especially when the genre is putzing along right now with a few years worth of, IMHO, mediocre MMOs. I don't know if the whole opinion on sub games dying off are accurate as many F2P MMOs right now are hybrids and offer varying options for subbing. There are only like 2 or 3 MMORPGs that I can think of that require subbing to play and those games are far from dead or dying.
So really, we'll just cover what we think's worth it, and since a vocal few of you are hating on the OW news posts. We'll scale back.
Personally I'd have no issue with the content, if it's going to be that way moving forward, cover what you want, no matter what I or those few others say. I just feel if you're going to cover one game of a type, you might as well cover others. Rather than treating one as a special snowflake.
This is the point of contention I would have.
And I can understand blueturtle13's sentiment, too.
I don't mind news features focused on female gamers, I think there should be more.. And while I don't believe Suzie did it on purpose, the feature about an Overwatch female gamer owning some folks did stick out when I was browsing as a "huh, that's kind of reaching for Overwatch news" due specifically to an overall lack of features highlighting our better gaming halves on the site (which, @SBFord, if that was the beginning of an intended general trend, I'm all for it!) and unfortunate timing. The subject also seemed less than specific to the game itself (I've been owned by ladies in competitive games more times than I can count). Without those qualities in tandem, the feature wouldn't have struck me as reaching.
Personally I won't criticize anything they post, as I don't take any time out of my day to search out gaming news; I get it all here. Blueturtle13 does take the time and finds lots of interesting nuggets of info I enjoy being informed about, so I see where he's coming from and why he offered the opinion.
Ideally, the site would focus exclusively on RPGs. If Bill and the gang expand that coverage to increase traffic, I get it. The confluence of unfortunate (and hopefully unintentional) factors contributed to blueturtle13 and others chiming in. Let's all learn a little about one another from it and hopefully move forward with more informed understandings.
They started by covering Rpg's, has it grows it starts covering more things, that's just how it works in every " news " kinda of thing
That's just the thing I was talking about, if they're going to broaden the horizons that's fine, just don't assure us they're not going to do that prior... some of us defended them pretty staunchly based on that premise when the transition first started.. "we're just moving into covering RPGs "...
If they want to become the next IGN, that's fine, I like the staff here more anyway. There are plenty of other things they can cover, if they need the extra clicks. There are so many big general gaming announcements, especially as far as shooters and action games are concerned.. they're simply more popular than RPGs as well as MMOs.
In the end, there's a line or there's no line. They're either a general news site or a specialty site.
If there's anything I'd be annoyed about in this, it's defending them on this issue prior, many times... as I opened my response with, for me personally this is the first time I can remember not defending them on such things.

That moment when you realize that Black Ops 3 is 2nd on consoles...My PS4 is completely useless I guess now
Thats actually good news. It means Blops 3 is not the 1st anymore, which means more people are playing other things now. IMO Uncharted is well worth that place until something better comes along.
But then i realized that chart is only digital sales and i stopped caring.

I really wanna play the new Uncharted, but I feel I would be doing myself a disservice by doing so before I played through the franchise prequels.
Agreed about Blops dropping outta the number one spot, as the Call of Duty franchise has started to feel more and more like the kind of yearly cash-in EA Sports games have become.

Agreed. They may do well by stepping back like Ubisoft did with the Assassin's Creed series and take a year off. (Though AC:Syndicate was my favorite of the franchise)
Battlefield has flirted with it, too. I hope they don't go full-on CoD mode, as I respect DICE and the franchise immensely and would be incredibly disappointed to see it fall to that level.

I don't hate Overwatch and i'm also all in for variety in news. I send in news when i stumple upon them and i love it. I also really enjoyed the features and discussion of the Warcraft movie here. And it would be totally fine by me to read an opinion on a tv show or such now and then.
To me it just looks like some of the recently posted news about Overwatch aren't posted for the "news" of it, but because it's Overwatch and because Suzie is a huge fan of Blizzard. I doubt we'd see the same news if that cheater-story happened in say Battlefield. And this thread is another example.
For my taste this is a bit too much coverage on the same game, happening on about a daily basis. So i post about it. Not that i would expect my opinion to change anything, because i also see their stance here... but anyway. If you'd go some time back on my post history, you'd find me doing the very same when we had almost daily "news" on Trove -or anything Trion for that matter- that due to overall lack of interest many times didn't even got more than 3 comments on them, giveaways all the time and a Scott Hartsman "interview" about every two weeks - i literally had to block his picture in my browser because it was constantly being displayed for weeks in that news reel frame on the mainpage.
Going back ~10 years, i did the same when Funcom temporarily took over this page and we had AoC news and not-so-news constantly clogging up the mainpage for weeks. You couldn't click two pixels without hitting an "interview" of Godager or Ellingson.
So this is not about hate, but just an opinion. After almost a decade on this page i grew out of "hating" such thing as a video game.
Seriously, why is ESO not on their list with its purported success? Do they neither consider it P2P nor F2P?
Not to jump on a bandwagon, but I've always had trouble finding a lot of consistency with Superdata's categorization.
I do appreciate that they're one of the very few sources of precious sales information in the industry, but well... I'd really like to hear someone working for them publicly explain (or at least reach out to you guys who run gaming news sites) how they make their decisions in regards to what's what when they release this information.
That was a bit harsh and a little personally charged. Remove your emotion. Be a professional. You guys get paid to report news and articles about MMOs and RPGs. We as the readers do not. It should not fall on our heads to report MMO news when it is readily available to find by those that get paid to report it. I have provided many a news story thank you very much and you know that. That was not an evil post it was an honest one. at least 3 news stories in 2 days about Overwatch seems a bit much. If that level of candor is not accepted by you and your staff I think perhaps you need more than a change to the website. Now carry on.
Actually, Blue, it seems you got a little more personally charged than me. I'm defending my staff, and my friend, for the work she does tirelessly and thanklessly for the thousands that come here. You're complaining about having to read a headline you didn't personally like.
We are a family here at MMORPG. Both staff, and users, so I'm sorry if what I said roiled your emotions. But I'm not sorry for defending Suzie's exemplary work.
I have thanked her and said very nice things about her and the staff. More than once. Yet I also call it like I see it. Many of us are getting a bit Overwatch weary and I am voicing that. That is my opinion which is shared by many readers here. I am sorry my honest opinion on the over coverage of Overwatch (see what I did there?) riled your emotions. Now once again. Carry on.
then stop reading overwatch posts dude.. it's not rocket science, i personally like reading overwatch news, i enjoy the game, like i'm enjoying wildstar / ffxiv and ESO at the moment.... and kind of playing BDO not so much enjoying it though...
even so, i come here to get news across all boards because i know it will be reported and i generally like the community and articles here.
so, to the people who are weary about overwatch, simply don't read them... plenty of other stuff going on too.
