Their site says they have a free trial, but then it says there are no promos etc. when I click the free trial link... So there is no way to try this game without buying the cd key?
One dead man, a tragedy. One-million dead men, a statistic.
They have free trials every 3 or 4 months in the past. Since the deveolpers are getting ready to put "Battleground Europe" on the shelves, I don't anticipate a free trial for a while now.
By the way, you can still download the full version with out a CD key and play/use the equipment in "offline" mode. That should give you a little taste on how this game opperates.
You can also explore different towns/cities offline by selecting the Army Base on the Theatre map and then choosing your unit. Nice undocumented feature they added to the game with the new patch.

you can i never new that finnally something that can give me a little taste
The game is undergoing a messy transitional period for the Battleground Europe release, i would recommend that you wait for that, it should be in the stores in a couple of months.
The fact that BE is going to be released is not a reason to wait imo.
If you don't get a free trial, well for me it's a reason not to buy. I would never have subscribed to WWII-OL without free trial. Of course in hindsight I know I like the game but maybe you might get dissapointed. (then again $20 is not that much money)

Life can be tapped
Yeah but wouldn't BB cost 2x more than it is presently?
I'd say that he should buy it now.
