MMORPGS for the more "freedom loving" among us- list them here!

If your like me you have a handful of mmorpgs your looking forward to trying because they offer something different then the typical eq rehash fair. These are the only major( not these small free chinese or any like that) I have found in my searching.

1- Darkfall- Been following for 4 years, free pvp, large world,  sea battles, planetary systems, City building and Empire combat. and the typical fantasy fair in UO style+ tons of things not seen before-

2- Roma Victor -  been following RV for around two years now. Basically in the vein of UO and Darkfall, yet even more realistically hardcore and set in historical roman times.

3-  Wheel of Time MMO- a mmo ive been following for a few years and know some of the devs, It has good promise and will be pretty hardcore in terms of free pvp , player cities and empire combat etc.

4- Trials of Ascension- Same sort of thing, 25 races, huge world... sort of reminds me of how old Horizons was going to be

Can you name any other mmorpgs that are like these?  here are some of my critera, although this is my personal belief, if you feel another game is hardcore but doesnt follow this fully please do post it-

Pure skill based gameplay... no hybrid level/skill, no AC2 style junk... pure UO style raise skills by using, everyone can try every skill sort of setup with no levels.

Free pvp- kill anyone in 95% of places, SOME safe cities or guarded n00bie zones allowed, but would prefer free pvp anywhere anytime, and guards have LOS so you can do stuff in dark allys and not have some stupid mystical alignment hit or uber auto kill guards, or developers just making an area -pvp

-Large virtual world -  where the world is there because it exists, not because its there to help the players level or get uber gear.

-full loot or something CLOSE to it

-a realistic player economy that starts from the environment like UO's did. aka everything comes from the ground, or animals, for use in trade skills. If you need arrows go cut trees for wood and kill a bird for feathers etc. No spiders and wolves carrying armor and weapons after you kill them... stupidity.

I could make a larger list but these are the basics of what I consider a mmo I would love to play. If you have found any other mmorpgs in development besides these 4 games then please mention them here. It is our duty to support and spread the word about these games or else suffer many more years of EQ games.

if you like sci-fi, Eve-Online. Even if you don't like sci-fi try it anyway, it's got a 14 day free trial. It's worth trying purely to see the player driven economy in action, and the coolest map in any game ever...

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

Irth Online, it has everything you'd expect from mmorpg but nothing will ever be forced upon you...just like in UO

if you're looking for mindblowing graphics tough, this game will not be for you.

If you want hardcore pvp with looting and pure skill based system Irth is for you but I must warn you, this will be HARDCORE game and you will not find yourself bouncing along the merry street singing happy songs while following the happy happy arrow to your yet another grind quest.

    Eve

    Irith

Irith im trying to figure out how to play atm.. will have to see how it is.

Darkfall will be good...if it ever gets released. Been in development so long with so little feedback from the dev team (yes, I've been in the forums...for a YEAR) that I question how far it will go.

Trials of Ascension again looks great...but we're not getting a whole lot from the devs on whats going on.

HOLY CRAP Darkfall looks freakin wicked....PvP that looks that good?? Even people who don't like PvP (I refuse to use the word "carebears" as I am now past the 5th grade) won't be able to resist! Oh god, another game I can't live without....this is a tuff time in MMORPG's: So many good games on the horizon.

*steps in his hibernation chamber* Screw it, wake me up just before Christmas. Something good will be out by thenimage
