What Do You Dislike The Most?

“I hate it. Absolutely bloody hate it.” said my brother. He was talking about the fact that enemies in Black Desert Online reveal nothing about themselves until you’ve killed multiple. Such a system is certainly different from the ‘norm’ and does take some getting used to. The first encounter I had with an enemy, I assumed the game was bugged for failing to reveal its health or deterioration as I peppered the creature with arrows.

The pop-in bothered me, as well.

Running through cities filled with black silhouettes was disconcerting.

The ones they patched out three weeks ago?

My least favorite thing would be how life skills are worth FAR FAR less money than mindlessly grinding monsters.

Or maybe the fact that there is no actual choice in skills, everything is cookie cutter either you pick the right skills or the wrong ones. It's like Old School WoW with the illusion of choice, horrible.

Or maybe the problem I have with open world PVP being wholesale meaningless in a game advertised as an open world PVP Game? That PvP in general is unrewarding and has no incentive.

Finally, I hate how mind numbing the grinding is. At least in other open world PVP games the PvE is interesting because you're at constant risk of having everything taken from you. You're SURVIVING.
That is not this game. Not at all.

Combat, pop-in, so called systems that are just hidden grind, the grind, combat, and combat.

Just don't like the lag I get at times.

I love that it's a grind game. Some of the community sucks.

I'm sure as knowledgeable as you are, some programs are already up and running. But then again no one sees hackers so its ok. A patch can't fix something that is client side unless they have everyone redownload a completely new client. But again, I'm sure you knew that.

The early release of Valencia and the gear disparity that comes with it. Seeing people getting TRI Livertos the first freaking day was extremely discouraging. With +20 around the corner you can stick a fork in this one. Only the hardcore no lifers will be playing this game. Being so gear based you have no hope in pvp against someone with better gear. No time to catch up, no gear good enough to be competitive at all. RIP.

What i dislike the most is the region block. I can't play with my real life friends (whom i play every PC online game every day with) because they don't live in the US even though they still live, you know... in the American Continent. I got bored of playing on my own so im taking an indefinite break... probably until PA decide to release an international version of BDO.

/sigh  I guess you don't know what 'moving skills from client side to server side' does.
Or that they did such a thing.
    Glad we cleared that up.

Simple for me, shallow where I want depth. I'm looking for a game to replace DAoC RvR and EQ1 PvE. Then you have everyone looking the same unless you spend 30US for an unlock on one char. One unlock for bag space and another for weight. Cash shop is just to heavy handed. Then you add in the lack of action they take on a system that so easy to hack (client side mess) I have taken a pass on this game till I hear things have improved. As it stands for me, standing back waiting to see if they have the skill that get er done.

A subscription to Private Internet Access is only 6 dollars a month, even less if you subscribe per year.  I use it to bypass region locks and to play games earlier when they do something irritating like release Fallout 4 at midnight... but only in your time zone.

Not to mention PIA has a torrent tunnel to keep your ISP from torrent sniffing.

Such wide gear disparity in a pvp-oriented game is what bothers me. And yes, the pvp should be a lot more meaningful as well. But there's also a lot I really like about the game. I've even tamed the worst of the pop-in (or gotten used to it).

I wasn't aware that "skill" use was the only hack in this game. Maybe they could move the majority of the game server side. Yup, that would fix it.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Honestly? I love the combat, I love the knowledge system, I love the exploration, I love the somewhat less level based gameplay, and I love the boss fights. What I hate is the lack of polish on everything in it, alongside the constant feeling that everything I do is empty and meaningless. I don't feel a reason or need to venture outside my villa, nor are there any survival elements, or really any form of content that isn't the same boring quests from every MMO. If the quests were like ESO's, this game would my dream MMO.

I think for me what made me quit was the Spammers, So many and so frequent. The Grind was ok ... as it was fun to do it... but still a GRIND. I know the Hacks were fixed but that was another reason at the time.

The grind but just because the RNG suck so need to grind more for enchanting my gear.

I played for a few hours, I didn't like how they pointed to everything in the game.
Seem like I was playing a game design for 5 year old. I was doing some stupid quest and i hit level 11 in 30 min just killing stupid entrance mobs, I wasn't even close in dying.

I disliked the auto path system, afk gamers, and pop in. Total immersion breakers.

You could assume no one was actually playing unless you saw them fighting.

Just not my kind of game. I enjoy being able to immerse myself into the virtual world and gain personal ties to my character and those I interact with. It was pretty well impossible for me to do that in BDO.

They moved a lot of that stuff server side.

I only have 2 gripes, but one of them I've known about for a long time. First is the "PvP only" servers. Call me a carebear, but I've never been big on PvP in any game, except in Dark Age of Camelot and Battlefield 3/4. All other games that I've played PvP just plain frustrate me, and it always feels like you're losing, even if you're winning. The PvP in BDO isn't that bad though, and I already knew it was this way. I don't play it everyday anymore, but when I did I would only get ganked like 1-2 times a day, which is fine imho.

My biggest gripe is the pop-in problem. There's a reason why I spend thousands of dollars on computer hardware (well 2, one is family lol), and that's so I can have the ultimate gaming experience. Running the game even on my, soon-to-be GTX 1080, Titan X machine, I still get pop-ins everywhere. When I'm fighting or running around on foot, there isn't much problem, but when you're running around on a horse or wagon it becomes a very ugly world full of blacked out shadows.

The black spirit. The themepark style it seem all mmorpgs are "blessed" with nowadays.

I don't hate anything about the game. Everything that annoys me has a reason for it to be there.

-No trading= no (actual) goldsellers, limited damage from hackers/exploiters
    -Silver weighing me down= immersion
-Pop in= Best looking MMO ever. Every MMO has a limited range. If you play Archeage, you can notice a visible circle where the environment things like grass will load in. That to me is worse than the pop-in that happens in BDO.
-Expensive Cash shop= B2P with no sub and currently no p2w.

Probably the biggest problem with no upsides the game has currently is Desync. I notice it a bit when I fight mobs solo. I haven't done a big group thing yet but I hear it can get pretty bad. Although one could argue if desync has increased recently like some have claimed, it's a price to pay for moving skills to be checked server side and deal with hacking.

Creating an amazing game world and then making the PVE terrible is a travesty. From the combat to the lack of interdependence, this game pissed me off like no other in recent years. It had so many good ideas ruined by other bad ones.
