    My advise to Blizzard...

    Crush your enemies,
    See them driven before you,
And hear the lamentations of the women and children.

This concisely sums up my entire opinion on the matter.

If Blizzard had dumped as much money into an anti-cheat as they're probably going to do in these lawsuits, they'd never have a problem in the first place.

On top of that, I doubt a courts going to side with them. No one has stolen or used their intellectual property adversely. It's only been worked around using a cheat.

blizzard has won literally many suits over bossland already.. bossland just keeps reappealing them in higher courts...

Edit - at one stage there was even a court ruling against selling honorbuddy to germany, not sure if it's still applicable or not, but blizzard wins plenty.

    Good for Blizzard.

Here's the problem - it's like trying to eradicate cockroaches by stepping on one of them.

Reminds me of an old GOT episode I was just re-watching last night with the giant Wun Wun stepping on undead one at a time while thousands of them attacked Hardhome :)

At least Bliz has the funds to sic lawyers on them. Very few other developers can.

also.. if it was as easy as throwing money at the problem to eradicate it completely all games would do it, but it isnt the case, so they have to handle it as it arises it and try to protect their games as best they can.

Short of a closed system, closed OS, and hard wired network -- and even then it wouldn't shock me if someone found a way to hack it -- there is no possible way to completely stop cheats no matter how much time or money you throw at the problem.

There is zero precedence that I am aware of. Bossland is sharing knowledge on how to cheat in a game. Yes, they are trying to bankrupt him. I doubt any of their "wins" hold up in higher courts. Then again, it'll be hard for Bossland to keep paying the legal fees. All Blizzard has to do is sell its idiot consumers a panda pet.

    I don't know what's worse -

A few people in this thread making it seem like this cheat nonsense only happens to Blizzard, or the ones saying Blizzard should have made a game that was cheat-proof. I mean, holy hell Batman.

Why bother? A company like blizzard should just hire hitman and have him kill all the members of bot making company along with their families. Will be a good lesson for rest of the world to not mess with blizzard or any game companies.

Dude you've gone too far this time.  Recommending murder.

This is all posturing and PR for the good press.  They don't stand a chance in hell of winning, especially in the US.

Not only that, but this is like playing whack-a-mole.  Even if they bankrupt this guy and manage to get him in prison, then another entrepreneur will pop up, but this one will be in Russia and Russia doesn't give a flying fuck about Blizzards lawsuit, especially if the guy making the cheat is paying off the local judge.  Where there's a want, there will be an entrepreneur.  I mean look at how making drugs illegal has totally stopped drug use.  Obviously that approach works. /s

It's a stupid PR stunt and waste of time and money when they could be putting those resources to good use rooting out end users and banning them.

And? Things like this won't ever stop until something extreme is done to these assholes. People ddosing and openly boasting about it on internet, bot/cheat makers acting like big shot entrepreneur going as far as suing the game company, these people need to learn some harsh lesson, make example of one group and the rest will automatically fall in line.

Ha! I hope it gets thrown out. It's a game, make it more secure in the first place. Probably would cost less than the lawyer fees.
thats the problem with hackers (as botmakers are hackers in my vision)

Its like a reaction... if you make the game more secure, its just going to take longer but eventually it is going to happen and when it happens it spreads like oil on the waves of the ocean..

what we need is a law that makes creating tools for cheating in games the same act as hacking  a 3rd party computer...

This seems expected. I suspect this is following Epic Games/Tim Sweeney's lawsuits against the hackers who made the Paragon bot programs. I'll be curious to see how this one unfolds.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

An excellent point, but that doesn't justify not squashy a stray roach if you spot one.
