Asian games seem to make women and men look like children. However, RoI does have a decent character creator, if you take the time and make one, there are sliders for body parts. After years of mmo gaming, we women gamers are still treated as if women gamers are a myth.
There is a shining light at the end of the tunnel..... (go to 3:28)
tried to reply, site is fooked and horribly designed sorry.
My main point, that was deleted after typing out 5 paragraphs when i posted, is that men think women are beautiful, they made this game, they drew them and so they are a males image of a beautiful women.
We do not mean they are all sluts, or even designed for sex, believe it or not all men are not base cavemen that think about raping every women that shows skin. When I see a beautiful women, thats what I think, she is beautiful, sex with her hardly ever enter my mind UNLESS we in a courtship ritual already of some kind.
So while you are thinking men draw women sexy cause they want to rape them we are just appreciating their beauty... most of us.
So how is what you are doing to males, stating we are all rapists and perverts for drawing beautiful women, any different than males thinking all hot women are sex dolls?
Discrimination and false judgment can happen on the female side as well you know. You just dont understand males obviously and have a negative opinion of them generally, it shows in your biased, illogical stance on video games MADE BY men.
Never mind "where they are going",tell them to fix their dam login and recovery system,NONE of it works
DNS not found err _name error tries to login to Aion roflmao then tries to login to Lineage....ummm this is Icarus geesus, does anyone in their staff pay attention to failing systems?
Also since when does a system judge my IP address is no where near my based location when it is 100% EXACTLY in my base location ,,,lmao ,again wtf is up with this NCSOFT/Nexon teams?
Oh well it is my gain,i don't have to deal with foreign accounts and non English speaking support.
I am still pissed from my past dealings with the likes of NCSOFT and Frogster.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
So I just downloaded the game. The very first thing that caught my eye is that all the female armors make them look like giant whores. I haven't even created a toon and I'm not impressed. Reviews from players aren't doing it any favors either.
Yeah... obviously asian, and disrespectful to women. I don't think I'll be playing this. I'm really not interested in looking like a 12 year old girl in skimpy clothing the entire game.
Don't judge them as whores for the clothing they wear.
He's (or she's) not judging HER. He can't because she's a personality-less avatar (seriously, she isn't even a named character with a storyline beyond "I'm the player character").
He's judging the makers of the game (she looks like a whore because the makers of the game wanted her to) and how her whorish look affects his experience with the game (it gets kinda hard for some people to keep up their suspension of belief when you have ridiculous double standards like this: http://bikiniarmorbattledamage.tumblr.com/post/147128581311/riders-of-icarus)
She And Bingo.
They are going for the male players, but ignoring the female. Most women aren't ok with looking like porn stars. Far too many game companies seem to have a serious difficulty with giving respect to women. You want good armor? Check out Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Single player, but they don't treat women like giant whores (with the exception of Morrigan. Can't really get behind that horrible outfit). The reason I say it's asian is because of the art style and because their games tend toward the "whorish" outfits.
By ignoring female gamers and pandering to men, they are ignoring 50% of the population of the planet. To me, this is completely idiotic. If you want to expand your playerbase, you don't immediately insult women. The men in this game don't look like children wearing porn star clothing, so why do the women? It's insulting.
It's a pity because the scenery is beautiful even if the rest of the game is a rehash of games that were released 5 years ago with more joke promises of "adding more later". Here's a hint... people are tired of the release of partially done games developers. If you can't release a full game at the start, then stop trying.
im sorry to break these delusional realities of yours, but it isn't true that 50% of the world's population is female, nor is it true that women share exactly the same interests as men. we're different. pick up a local biology book.
dear god, this equality thing is becoming rediculous. men play games way more than women, especially mmorpg's. im sorry dear but that's just how it is.
yes. the women look like rediculous skanks and I'd never play one, but mainly just because I prefer having cool looking armour. it really isnt because I feel like im disrespecting women, because its a GAME... its fake... duuuuuuuuh 0_0
you really should blame the general audience of MMORPG's... you know the kind of guy that jacks off to anime all day, is an armchair psychologist and plays Osu! while streaming his sweaty face?
Uninstaller button works fabulously. As OP stated, this game is late to the party. 6 years or so ago, it would have been up there games like Rappelz, or Silk Road, etc.
I couldn't stomach the first 2 minutes of game play. Immediately exit the game and Uninstalled. There are just so many other games to choose from now, that settling for this game is just punishing yourself.

yeah... thats the person you should blame.
What's with the hostility? You might not share her feelings, but neither are her's wrong. Your attitude towards her is contributing to the disconnect between males and females in gaming.
I dunno, maybe when you get a little older and you have a daughter that's old enough to enjoy gaming and maybe you'd like to spend a little time together in a game and what you see when you log in is..........
Well, let's just say there are some games, I'd probably not log into if I was online with my daughter.

no, you're wrong. her feelings are based on incorrect fairy-tale statistics that only exist in her clouded vision of reality.
you going to be a social justice warrior and give me boring talks about your daughter? since when does having a daughter equate to never calling someone out on their bullshit?
aside from that, I agreed with her on the opinion that they look like skanky characters. and instead of blaming her or the developers I put the blame on the average MMORPG person.
you wasted 3 paragraphs writing how I'm an inconsiderate something. could have spent those 3 paragraphs having an actual conversation (you know, talking about the statistics and what not).
im sorry to break these delusional realities of yours, but it isn't true that 50% of the world's population is female,
You're right. Only 49.5% of the world's human population are female, because a slightly larger proportion of females are murdered or aborted as babies due to being unwanted than males are killed fighting in armies. Have a cookie.
I dunno, maybe when you get a little older and you have a daughter that's old enough to enjoy gaming and maybe you'd like to spend a little time together in a game and what you see when you log in is..........
I have several young girl cousins and nieces that love to play games. However, as expected, they prefer to play as female characters because that's who they identify with better. They also all get instinctually disgusted by sexualized girls the same way that young boys (and most adult boys too, really) get disgusted by sexualized males. So games like Bayonetta or practically every MMO are right out, and although I like to play games alongside with them or recommend games to them or find them new games to play when they come over, it's actually incredibly rare for me to get the opportunity to thanks to this.
Riders of Icarus is another game to add to that list.
When I was growing up throughout my life, I loved being in roleplaying clubs and online writing groups. I made a lot of friends with lots of girls (and as we gew up, women) who also enjoyed that kind of thing. We were into all sorts of fandoms, but as time passed it became harder and harder to find any more animes, video games, or comics we could share because each of them got more and more disgusted with the double standards, the inferiority, or the sheer nonexistance of women in various media.
It's still ingrained in my mind when my closest friend at the time was gushing about how Sakura in Naruto now gained super strength and was finally going to be on par with the guys, only to be severely dissappointed in how she basically became a weak non-factor and stayed that way as the series progressed. Or how another girl friend (platonic) of mine was excited about a new character introduced in Kira only for that character to be revealed to be a guy. They eventually dropped those series and I had one less thing to talk about and share with them.
And as I got more and more into MMOs and more out of writing clubs (as did everyone as it demanded a lot more time than MMOs did and life left no time for that), it became impossible for me to take any of my friends with me. It wasn't just the outfits but the way females were portrayed (as pointed out in Riders of Icarus, the women are posing provacatively while the men are given ferocious combat stances)
Not that all women are the same. My partner in managing the strongest guild in the server in Granado Espada actually liked the sexualized outfits that all the females wore and brought lots of those costumes. So I guess that makes like, one out of ten or something, maybe.
But hey, if Riders of Icarus and any other MMO thinks it's a good business decision to disgust the other 9 out of 10 of 49.5% of the world's population and that the people who buy games for sex appeal will bring in more profit, then so be it, I guess (even though all studies I've read are that sex doesn't sell well unless you're selling actual sex). Regardless of that, however, it is still Moirae's and anyone else's right, be they guy or girl, to not like that aspect of a game and to allow that to be a factor in whether or not they want to play it.

I will name her puddintater.
If 10 years ago we already had MMO that potraits female like some sluts, then guess what we would have now?
Imagine the pussybilities..
When you don't want the truth, you will make up your own truth.
