Step outside? NEVER! I really don't see the appeal to this game. I give the game a few weeks, just long enough for people to realize that walking around in the sunlight is detrimental to your health and trying to catch an invisible (to others) creature is an awesome way to get your self shot. I'll pass on this unappealing game.
Are people truly this paranoid about walking around?

So far its not an MMO , is there a name for a shared RPG, because you don't affect anyone elses game nor do they yours in any major way? The only player interactive bit is at gym and even then your just battling an AI Pokemon, no trading yet, and no battling strangers. But there is the novelty of talking to people with shared interest you meet while walking around.
also the game doesn't take into account terrain much, over that guard rail and fence is a swamp with stagnant polluted runoff water, also an awesome looking rare Pokemon. On my walk today, no rare Pokemon, but that water was there and so were Pokemon i haven't caught before, i'm older and wiser than go that far for a game. But I don't think a kid or even a teenager would give it much thought. I don't have any kids of my own, but it seems like this is a game were parents will need to have a talk about how far its ok to go to get a pokemon, and when its just too dangerous. Also i live in a heavily populated suburb with lots of crime, so i can under stand the points of view of those worried about people exploring.
I have a contrary take: it's a children's game, and we should be discouraging kids from constantly jamming their faces into smart phones. Social beauty? You'll forgive me for not being so optimistic.
Its a game for everyone. Youll be surprised how many couples, families, I see when battling gym and catching pokemon with my kid. And its like.. Your prob playing pokemon? Making new friends etc.
Its kind of like virtual geocaching...which is a thing.
I kind of think the Pokemon should only be found in easily accessible areas like parks and along streets, not in the middle of lakes and rivers, or in the middle of highways ect. I smell some kind of convoluted California lawsuit brewing.

I live in Baltimore, I can tell you one thing for sure. There's no one around here that doesn't know where they shouldn't go young or old.

Is PG an MMO? Sure it is. It has PvE, in collect and interacting at various IRL locations. Does it have PvP? Not at the moment. This is just the first of many IRL MMOs to come.
IMO the successful ones will prevent IRL fighting among players.

Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven Boy: Why can't I talk to Him? Mom: We don't talk to Priests. As if it could exist, without being payed for. F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing. Even telemarketers wouldn't think that. It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
Also the game works on GPS coordinates, so people have already figured out that simply using many of the spoof GPS programs gets them a bunch of pokemon without ever leaving the house.
Ingress went through the same problems and managed to work them out.

Normally pokemon isn't my thing I'm more of the magic side of card games.....buuuut that being said pokemon go did pull me in since I do know what it is and some of the lore lol. Its a fun little time waster that gets you off yer arse and out in the world walking around(at least yer exercising and not veggin) Goin out late at night in the forest near a lake to try and catch night pokemon was out of the norm fun too for an old person like me
The press for this game is crazy. I am sure Nintendo is eating it up
i believe i saw an article earlier saying that nintendo shares have increased decently since the release and popularity of pokemon go... good for them, sticking by an IP for so long now and really getting something good out of it, hopefully this pushes the pokemon games forward into a new generation.

But I am still not getting the MMO feeling - sure it's fun but I don't think it's a MMO as you can't interact with others in game which is sort of key - unless I am missing something.
Pokemon Go chat (third party) in my town we got a fb page for our town. I linked a picture with the gym we are running, others said omw dropping my pokemin and others said we will take it over etc.
At pokestops and gym we meet other ppl, some talking loud so others know they are trainers haha. Lure at pokestops everyone can see them and meet there. Fghts at gyms, bunch of ppl where sitting and standing at the gym, (for me its convenient, as it as a playground so I let my kid play)

You dont need to leave your house or even use a spoof gpd program to get different pokemon. All you need is the game open and every few mins a pokemon will wander into your area and if after 5 mins or so nothing shows up. Just restart the game and something will be standing around you.
Me and my kids enjoy going on walks looking for pokemon. But some days it is just to rainy to wander out so we can still enjoy the game while being at the house.

Beauty of it with Pokemon Go is that the only person you are hurting / ruining the game for is yourself. Since the whole idea of the game is to collect all the pokemon and capture gyms.
With ingress it was more of a pvp setup / style game where it could do some damage. I just do not see it being able to really do any real damage in pokemon go. Atleast not at this stage (not that I condone doing / using such programs)
I've spent more time playing Pokemon Go than I did Riders of Icarus, so yeah, either MMO's now flat out suck or Pokemon Go is brilliant.
Was at the char creation screen, I was like, shall I make a priest? nahh, went to the garden putted a lure waited for a sound or buzz while gardening :surprised:
Beauty ??? People are being beaten up and shot at for trespassing for this stupid crap. This game is going to get people killed there is nothing cute or beautiful about sticking people distracted in real world danger.
That seems rather alarmist to me, how widespread are such cases really? On top of that most people know where they should or shouldn't go in their given city. As the old saying goes, you can't protect the foolish from foolishness. More people are killed/hurt riding skateboards and Bikes I'm sure, perspective and all man.
There have been 100's of injuries in the US alone thousands worldwide. People are stepping out in front of cars, off rooftops, falling off retention walls, falling into canals, pools, storm drains. There has to be some kind of liability attached, they have knowingly created this thing and even admit there is a danger involved.
I think it's important to note that this is exactly what a 'killer app' looks like. Look at how hard VR is trying to capture people's attention and now look at this simple little AR app that is insanely popular. It's hilarious to see people going about catching pokemon and hanging out at 'gyms' and pokestops. It was hot as balls yesterday and it didn't stop tons of people from being out and about catching and battling pokemon.
I dunno if it will last, but it is amazing to see an gaming phenomenon materialize overnight.
I wont lie, the gameplay in pokemon go is horrifyingly bad and basic but..
I'm a person who barely gets off their chair, and i went from sedentary to 30km walked in 2 days, thats something I'd never normally do.
My feet are killing me but i met 7 people playing, despite the game not being officially out in my country yet, and i got a nice sunburn on my white nerdy skin
i can see myself playing for quite some time, this game makes going outside alone actually fun.
It's also tons of fun discovering these art murals and memorials that i never knew where here.
