ARR release player thinking of returning...

I apologize in advance for creating yet another one of these threads, but I have sifted through a few and still have questions and would like some personalized feedback and opinions.  I posted a couple comments already in one of them, but I didn't want to hijack someone else's.  I know that google is my longtime friend, but as I said I am very interested to hear from other gamers.

I played for a few months right after ARR was released, then decided to leave the game.  I hadn't joined an FC, and was getting discouraged healing fail pugs on hardmode primal(?) boss fights or whatever it was called.  Pretty sure I quit around the time I got to Shiva(?) hardmode and nobody would stand behind the effin pillars when that wind ability went off or whatever it was.  Everyone still thought it was WoW, and the healer(s) could just deal...  Leveled a WHM to 50 and if I recall correctly I was able to obtain all of the class gear from main story quests as well as the weapon from Ifrit(?).  Is it then safe to assume I have completed the majority of the story quests needed to reach Heavensward content?  Or is there some other content in between I missed since it has been so long?

I am also considering playing on PS4, but would I be able to continue my journey with the account I created on the PC version?  More importantly, would that account and character even still exist?  I remember FFXI was very unforgiving when it came to inactive accounts, whereas an MMO like WoW would leave that shit on their servers/data banks forever.  I've had the same WoW account for 10 plus years but probably only played a total of 5, LOL (currently not playing, of course).  In addition I was wondering if I could just buy heavensward for PS4 or if it is like the traditional pc expansion process where I would also need to purchase AAR for the PS4?

I realize PvP was an after thought but any insight on how well it is implented/balanced would be great, too.  Also curious about the new healer job(s).  Thanks in advance for the responses!!!

Yes, if you buy a PS4 copy you can link it to your SE account and play the same character.

Knowing where you are in the story line you probably have about 25  Main Story Quests to go before you break into HW stuff, because i believe around the quest "let us stick together" is where it locks you out of more story content until you complete all of the Hard Mode Primals... so not far to get to HW stuff :)

Just to iterate on the PS4 situation, if you log into your account on mog station you have access to this

as you can see there it is quite easy to add a PS3 or PS4 key to your account and it will share characters, but you DO have to buy another copy, it wont log in on PS4 unless you have purchased an account for PS4 - that being said i'm almost positive if i remember correctly 1 sub is for your whole account, you don't need different subs for PC and PS4

The game is also dirt cheap so it's not a barrier to get an extra copy for the PS4

Buying ffxi costs twice as much as buying ffxiv, and they even have the same subscription cost.

    Says it all really

the new healer is kinda a mix of sch and whm since has a stance that change skill effects diurnal makes a heal put a hot effect , on noctural it adds a bubble effect, but the main mechanic is the "cards" buffs like +% dmg , -% mp cost , -tp cost, +attack speed , - dmg taken , the spell effects are cool as hell too

if u are on shiva u are close to HW since shiva was in 2.3 so u need to do 2.4 and 2.5 and then HW :)

Bought Heavensward off ebay for a fraction of the SE price. There's bound to be other sites offering major discounts as well. Worth shopping round.

You say you where on shiva but you describe Garuda fight with the pillars and wind attacks. If you are on Garuda you have a long way till heavensword.

Yeah I realized I was on garuda after logging into my account to see if it was still there.  I don't mind if it's a long way til heavensward, I'd be in it for the story.  Thanks for all the feedback!  One more question, if anyone has done healing on both pc and ps4 controller, what are the differences?

Hi, I play on a pc wth my mains being Whm and Scholar. I can't give any feedback on ps4 but here's my take on pc.

The game is the traditional mmo format, the likes of which which where originally designed for the pc. - multi skills occupying a few full hotbars. These can be set to share various common abilities between classes, or completely separate.
Macros - I have a few for healing, mainly for emergency situations, fast resurrection, fast aoe hp recovery etc. Really easy to set these up.
Keybinding is virtually open ended, I have customized both the keyboard and gaming mouse to suit my game.
So for pc - a prefect type of game.

The people I have spoken to in-game using the ps4 say SE have done a really good job in adapting this type of game to console play. Their only concern is if more skills/features are added, as they suggest the controller is probably at it's limits with the current class/game mechanics.
