-------------------- City of Heroes/Villains (SO much fun, this is still by far best super hero MMO. Sure there is Champions and DC Universe, but CoH was amazing. Too bad NCsoft is such an evil company, FAR worse than EA. You think EA is bad? Remember NCsoft.) -------------------- Tabula Rasa/Auto Assault (okay kinda cheating combining these, oh well :P)...both AWESOME games. Tabula Rasa still has the best AI of any MMORPG, and it came out years ago. Auto Assault was just pure fun. Too bad they were under NCsoft, pure evil. Don't need a novel of a post about how evil NCsoft treated TR and Auto Assault) --------------------
I agree about NCsoft. They threw a perfectly good money making game under the bus, and would not let anyone go under the bus to get it! I know they got some good offers for CoH, and there is still some negotiations going on, but it is getting really late in the game for them to get anything out of that IP any more. Valiance Online should be getting to true alpha/ early beta by the end of the year, and City of Titans should be getting to an alpha level early next year. Once those games release, the audience for a 13-14 year old game will dwindle quickly. The only reason I can figure why they are holding the IP is that they have plans for it, possibly remastering it. It would be nice to know what they are planning!
The way they handled Tabula Rasa was really uncalled for IMO. Yes, it was not doing as well as they hoped, but it was still making money AFAIK. But it looked like they did a mob assassination on that one.
Still, I rate them a cut above Funcom. I would at least consider playing an NCsoft produced game.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
Asheon's Call(First MMO for me) Star Wars Galaxies Pre-NGE(This game was GREAT, was trash after NGE) Ultima Online Dark Age of Camelot(RvR) Anarchy Online Notable 6th for me, kinda enjoyed Earth & Beyond
One thing that stands out in this thread as you read thru it , is the majority of old school games , that are the favorites ..... very telling ,to the state of the genre and where it has "Not Gone" in the least 10 years ..
Hoping Pantheon delivers us some good Old School Gaming
Guild Wars 1 The Secret World Final Fantasy XIV EverQuest Star Wars The Old Republic
Several others deserve honorable mention, especially many older MMO's I loved back in the day.
Good list, mine would be similar w/some in a different order possibly. I might add SWG before the changes in place of either EQ or SWTOR. Still though solid list.

Not played a single MMO for more than a few days since 2005.... though most today aren't even MMOs, they're so small scale.
