That game would be perfect as multiplatform on PC and consoles, and cross platform would be a blessing. Why they ditched a potential console port in favor of mobile is beyond ridiculous. Oh well, next!

Because consoles outnumber mobile...............
Then they have no clue to where to go with this game. If that was the reason then SONY, MS, Nintendo would stop making consoles and focus on making mobile games. There are more phones than gaming PCs too.
I think this just tells me they are ready to make this game the net mobile milking machine. Too bad it because looks great. Such a waste.
My opinion. I guess i'll pass since the PC version will surely have the same milking model the mobile version will have.
The game as a very clear PC first police, and PC players are the core target group. Tablet support exists in the game due to the fact that it is developed on the Unity engine, and that engine naturally supports cross-platform. Cross-platform is not aimed at "mobile players" but rather at PC players who also own a tablet, and might want to do some gathering or farming on their couch watching Netflix after having fought a PvP battle on PC.
Regarding the business model of the game, here is how it works:
the game is buy to play, combined with a "soft subscription"
the "soft subscription", called premium status, allows you to progress faster in the game.
if you do not have premium, you can still play, but will progress somewhat slower
premium subscription can be bought with premium currency (gold) or with in-game currency (silver).
So you can get premium without paying any real money, but it will take a few hours of grinding silver each month
the only thing that you can buy with gold apart from the premium subscription is vanity related stuff (such as a skin for your coat, or special furniture for your house, etc)
the premium currency, gold, can be freely traded between players. You can get gold from other players in return for items, or you can trade gold for silver with other players in the player-driven gold/silver exchange.
You can not turn gold to silver directly, outside of player to player trading
