Wow. The way the RSS feed worded the title: "Everquest: Next Update to feature....", meaning it appeared that Everquest: Next was getting an update. But EQ:N got cancelled. Then I clicked on it and saw a better title here.

No need to be sorry. That's just the first thing that popped into my mind as I read the title, thinking how is Everquest: Next getting an update? lol Some of us were looking forward to that game, and now it's gone after so much hype.

Ah well. They come and they go. Some of them come back, though as you've previously written recently. :)

As my soccer coach would say, 'Take a lap, Suzy'!

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I recently went back to EQ to try it again for old times sake. Sure the graphics were horribly dated, and the mechanisms were always a bit clunky, but it's from the dawn of MMOs, so that's kind of expected.
What I didn't expect was that with the 20+ expansions they'd done, it didn't seem as though they'd cleaned up or streamlined the system at all. The whole thing felt like every expansion had just duct taped on more complexity in the controls, but without any real though to user functionality. I could almost imagine dozens of rolls of duct tape having been plastered all over my screen and keyboard just to make this old dinosaur cough out an asthmatic roar.
I tried for several weeks to make things work out better, but I was never able to bring back any of the magic at all. (Mind you, I've gone back and had a blast replaying the old Might and Magic series from 1-8, so it's not just because it's old that I'm having issues with it.)

So to those that are still sticking with it and playing it, I salute you. I was there when Enchanters could wield rapiers. I was there when what's his face got pissed off at a peaceful sit-in by non-enchanters to protest the continual nerfing of Enchanters so he appeared as a giant gnome god and had a hissy fit and threatened to ban them all. I was there when a live event when really wrong and the GM running it lost his mind and started summoning/deathbinding people into a lavapit. And I was there when they announced to the entire server that anyone found RESTING in a safe spot would be permabanned without warning. That was actually when I got totally fed up and told them where they could stick it and canceled my subscription.
The game has been through a lot, and anyone that could put up with all that has my congratulations on their fortitude. I hope you enjoy the latest patch, and continue to enjoy the game for a long time to come. But it won't be with me apparently. ;)

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

#EverQuestNext intentional twitter hashtag. Thought mmorpg was better than that to use clickbate.

Yeah felt pretty click-bait like. I was thinking the exact same thing and thought "What the hell? ...didn't it get canceled .... what's this about" lol

People still playing EverQuest are there since the beginning. It's a pretty tightnit community.
So, if you have been around and playing this game since from the start, everything just feels Natural to them and not an issue. As you simply don't know better.

But as a New player.... forget it... it's a nightmare to get into. I have tried time and again to get into during my extensive EverQuest 2 gaming days and having the AllAccess Subscription.

I just gave up trying and kept hapilly playing EQ2 instead.

Recently came back after a 10year break, still getting spanked by the UI, but it's slowly sinking in and im beginning to kick ass again with my wizard. You crybabies just give up too easily.

Great news. Can the same team go in and consolidate the EQ2 abilities? :p
