I have been surprised with MXM
Much better game than I thought it would be

    Yea, me too.

Only reason I am not playing alot is because I know its just an alpha or I would be going hardcore on MXM.

I like the combat in Vindictus. I wish mmos would have that instead of 1 through 0 keys.

I used to spend a lot of time playing co-op games locally with my brother but neither of us game enough these days to commit to a long game. However, there are a few that have stood out over the years. A lot of them are shooters which i don't really like, but when you're playing with friends it makes them better.

    Rainbow Six: Las Vegas 2

We play locally, terrorist hunt mode. About 20 different levels, you load in and just have to hunt down 15-50 terrorists (depending on difficulty setting). Spawns are semi-random (and slightly broken) leading to interesting playthroughs. Each person earns XP and can complete challenges to unlock new weapons, armour and clothing. Was always really fun turning the game on, then each of us would spend 5-10 minutes redesigning our characters, then we'd bust out some levels.

    Sacred 2

Ok, so a pretty broken game with many screwed up features, but it was pretty massive and open ended. Most coop RPGs I've played you're basically on rails, playing through largely linear content. Sacred 2 was very open, very large and had some really fun things to fight.

Gears of War (all of them)

I just love the art style of these games and even enjoy the gameplay despite not liking shooters in general. But, beyond the great campaigns you've got usual local multiplayer options with bots, plus horde!

    Yoshis Woollen World (WiiU)

Guessing not many people have a WiiU, but I love it and this game. Great platformer, really cute and relaxing and takes me back to when me and my brother used to play coop platformers on our sega saturn.

    Borderlands 2

This game is at its best when played multiplayer. Gameplay often got quite samey, but the never end quest to rank up, specialise, unlock new stuff....so many good times! Still love all the weapons in the game.

    Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

I generally don't like any part of the call of duty franchise, but Exo Survival mode got to me. Its like horde modes from other games - steadily increasing difficulty with each wave, but with loads of ways to upgrade as you beat each wave. Some great levels to play through and gets very manic very quickly. You can't even really just sit and turtle all day long because you often receive challenges to complete, and failure can give negative effects. Only let down was the final unlocked level only had 10 waves (was a zombie level) unless you bought DLC :S

Dawn of War 2 - Last Stand Mode

Me and my bro are addicted to this. Think he has 400+ hours sunk into this game mode alone, I have about 150. Its 3 player online, horde style survival, but its 40k! With all DLC / expacs there are 8 heroes to choose from and level up.

Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr80 Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr5X Shaman

I haven't had a chance to play Overcooked yet but the youtube videos look like a ton of fun.  It's a lot more like a MarioKart or something than most of the games listed here though.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

I'm still playing Civ V rather regularly. Other than that, it's Combat Arms, SMITE, and Paragon mostly.

RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?

Yeah, Vegas 2 was awesome fun (particularly with the last patch that made the Ai far more challenging). I have moved on the R6: Siege since, even  though it lacks lan play (only internet) but the maps are much cooler. You should give it a try if you havn't already.

Age of wonders 3 - This game is a gem, can be played as co-op against other players or Ais or you can have diplomacy so you can change sides as you play. Turn based strategy with RPG elements, kinda a mix between Heroes and Warlords but with better tactical combat then either of them and some research. A must if you enjoy that type of games.

Civ IV: Caveman2Cosmos: The ultimate CIV game, a free mod for CIV 4 with many times the technology and units the Civ base games have. It is community made and actually improve CIV IVs engine as well. Gigantic maps, hundreds of resources and loads of improvements and wonders.

I have had just as much fun playing Co-Op games either local or online as I have with MMORPGs.
Some of my favorite experiences in gaming were not even involving an MMO.
Since so many people have found the genre of MMOs to be lacking for them, what games can those people turn to until one comes out that they like?

I love the Co-Op in Diablo 3 right now with a friend
Divinity:Original Sin ---has great Co-Op which I have played through with two different people
The Crew ---has been a ton of fun for a friend and I
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 (more so 2)--- I play every couple of weeks with a small group
Borderlands 2 ---is still heavily played
Total War: Warhammer ----Awesome game even better with friends
Dying Light ---was way more fun with a friend
    Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2-- (Don't judge me it's a fun Co-Op game =p )
Rocket League--- is a blast with or without friends but with friends you can create strategy
Grim Dawn ---is really fun in Multiplayer (What?! GD has multiplayer? Yep and it is awesome)
With Civ VI coming in Oct. Civ V is a great game online
Dead By Daylight-- 4 vs 1 and you play as or be hunted down by a Psychopath...yeah it is as fun as it sounds
Starbound ---is way more fun with a friend
Day of Infamy ---is really fun. Close quarters and intense
Don't Starve Together--- Such a weird game but oddly fun with a friend (or without)
Plague Inc --- Because who does not want to infect and kill the human race...with a friend.
Portal 2 --Brilliant game made better with Co-Op
Portal Knights --Charming game and the Co-Op is fun
Brawlhalla--Super Smash Bros on computer. For free.
Kings and Heroes--Still early in development but the potential is there for an amazing dungeon crawler with friends

Anyway.....Those are just some of the games off the top of my head. What games do you guys play Non MMO: Co-Op or Multiplayer that you like and think people should try?

I'd love to find a game like total war warhammer that doesn't require me to handle all the upkeep etc.  Meaning, I just want to be one of the lords/generals and handle my particular army, not all the stuff in the backround...gimme that and I'd be in love.
