ok ..so it's not a mmorpg by definition that it has a single player mode(which IMO is there for general play and to be used to help learn the tool set features under the tool set) and is not set on a single sever for a single persistant world..IMO is great. If I don't like the way a world is set up I could simply find another that is more appealing to me...so i'll leave it at that..ty

Persistent worlds (or hosted modules) using the NWN/Aurora engine may not be MMORPG by the "massive multiplayer" definition, but it meets the "roleplaying" aspect more than many traditional MMORGs due to more extensive character to character interaction.  This interaction is on two levels - between players and game masters (called dungeon masters).

Is running around in a traditional MMORPG (like WoW or EQ2) more "MMORPG"ish than running around in a large NWN persistent world?  NO.  It is yes if you only consider game mechanic roleplaying - then the focus is grinding levels to play that party role better (which is more an action playing style).

If you want an "immersive" social roleplaying style of gaming, nothing beats a good NWN persistent world (and there are many out there).  If you want a game mechanic roleplaying style, there are many action MMORPGs out there.

Few, very few, combine both as one of the key ingredients for social roleplaying is a reward system - and NWN has that.  Some say Adellion may have that also when released.

It is to my knowlege the only mmorpg that allows the gaming community to host their own created sever worlds..via the arora tool set..and the creation of new items and scripting..CEP pack. I trully wish that this great game would be included for those not familiar to it.
don't get me wrong there are alot of great games represented here minus Evercrack..::::12:: lol say no to crack lol just my opinion...

Yeah, I think image is right.   You should respect your elders.   So many people backstab EQ these days.  You know you loved it when it came out.

Not really...I don't care for a game you pay 50$ for then have to pay to play it. All mmorpg's that require you to do this deserve the "crack" tag behind them. Really no different from the drug refered to. I hope none stoop to sucking dick to play though...lol. as for the respest your elders ???? you lost me there::::37::

    Erm
    no
The Definition of an MMORPG does not preclude it having a single player mode. The definition of an MMORPG is that it must allow thousands of players to coexist in the same virtual environment at the same time.

NWN does not do this so it is not an MMORPG

CONAN does do this so it IS an MMORPG regardless of whether it has a Single Player Mode or not.

Single player mode means nothing, zip, nada as long as the game meets the requirement of allowing thousands of players to play online in the same virtual Environment Together.

Good god what is so confusing about the definition of MMORPG? I posted 5 different definitions from 5 different sources that all say the same thing.
thousands of players playing together online in a single persistant world.
