Thats an outrageous price! It takes some solid hardware to run it, but i recommed this game to anyone. Mounting a caragor and hunting orcs is just AWAYSOME!
That is a bargain price, most people will probably get their money's worth.
I did buy the game at release for 360 but wasn't impressed myself. From what I remember (its been a while!) the combat was quite similar to the recent batman games, so quite visceral but once you've "got it", it all gets very samey. My main issue was the world. It was extremely boring in my opinion. First, every zone looked the same - same colour palette, same kind of buildings, similar mobs, similar tactics for sneaking around etc.
So, when I was playing, the first 2-3 hours were great fun, learning the systems, learning the combat, checking out the nemesis system etc, but after that I felt like I was basically on the same game loop, just repeating the same things over and over. The upgrade system and nemesis system kept me playing for a bit longer but I eventually gave up after 8-10 hours.
Still, 8-10 hours entertainment for $5.99? Very good value.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr80 Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr5X Shaman

I'd agree with most of your points. A couple of things that made it worth it to me beyond the combat were 1) I kinda like how the main guy was presented and 2) that nemesis system man....that can be a really really really good motivator even though the gameplay can get a bit repetitive. "I'm getting tired of killing you tark!" The stories you can tell with that system alone are honestly worth the price imo. The more you die to certain captains and such, they "stronger" they get, so certain styles and things wont work on all of them, plus you can get overrun quite easily, ending up fighting multiple main guys in the nemesis system at once, which can prove to be challenging since some can have various immunities and masteries etc.

Sadly the nemesis system and some other mechanics were gutted in the 360 and PS3 version of the game for performance reasons. They had to pair down the 360/PS3 version of some rather nice high-end features that crippled the play on those consoles, and that version of the game directly suffered in quality for it.
So understandable that someone with that version would have found it lacking, because it actually was when compared to it's XB1/PS4 and PC counterpart.

Ah, didn't know the 360 version was gutted. I still found the nemesis system interesting, though admittedly it didn't really add anything to the depth of gameplay. The only thing I remember it having an effect on was when you had to get your man promoted to the top tier by assassinating those above him.
I also seem to remember that at a certain point in the game, I'd been eliminating bosses too rapidly so that the majority of the bosses within my nemesis system were all low level and thus easy to kill. I had to deliberately stop killing them and start pitting them against one another in order for some of them to level up enough to be interesting again.
Do you know what the xbone / ps4 / pc version of the nemesis system actually has that is better than 360?

Larger asset and personality database, which means more variety overall, as well as a more complex AI that simulates the hierarchy better (with the relationships expanded in their behavior, such as rivalries and alliances). Traits were expanded too.
Big thing would be the simulated events that the uruks do of their own accord to gain power, which were apparently reduced in frequency and variety on 360/PS3 so that they wouldn't have to track so many events.

Monolith made a great game and I hope they expand on the concept.
