I was pretty happy when recently Todd said he has continued to think about how to make the Eternal Kingdoms more involved with PVP.
For my guild I'm looking at the EK as a sort of meta-game for PvP. Given that I will control the rules, and the guild is a pretty hardcore military-minded group, my thought is to just leave PvP enabled at all times within the EK.
If a guild member is alone in a dark alley and gets shanked by another player in some other guild - consider it a life lesson...
The meta comes in the fact that I will have a character with a 'king' title, as well as a house guard, palace guard, and city militia (there are quite a few of us and we have a full 'palace' to try and infiltrate) - so this means that other guilds are free to attempt to raid our 'capital' in an attempt to assassinate our 'king'... If successful, we'll give them some sort of reward applicable to winning a siege against such odds (materials, weapons, or some other 'spoils of war') and I will retire that character to be replaced with some other member of the royal family.
Then, after a month or so (just so I can get the initial skills going), we do it again.
I was really following this game, but when they started using terms like "soft launch" I started getting skeptical. They would have been smarter to just say some features will be pushed back to post launch instead of playing this word game stuff that most people are really getting sick of.
My main concern with this game is the FPS. This is a huge deal and a deal breaker if they can't get this game to the point where people can get 60fps in the open and minimum 30fps in group combat. They keep saying it's testing and things will improve, but I've heard that song before many times and it never happens to any major extent. It seems like Camelot might end up being the smartest kid in the class being that they took the extra time to design their own custom engine for what they were doing.
