They emphasized procedural generated world, I don't understand where people get the star citizen or elite dangerous expectations from, the first time they annouced NMS at E3 or some convention I thought of minecraft or a first person version of starbound. Just because the game is disappointing to you doesn't mean the game is a failure, you deceived yourself with your own expectations.

You know I am going to put back here and start throwing some of the blame on Windows 10 Anniversary. I have slowed down on NMS because of all the lockup and crashes so started trying other games that have never had an issue and now everything is locking up and crashing. Deus Ex launched today and has been freezing like crazy. I have tried rolling back my video drivers and the issue is still happening non stop. Think I may have to roll back the windows 10 update.

you are joking right?
you thought of minecraft but not Elite Dangerous, Space Engineers with planets or Empyrion.
Sorry I find that hard to believe.

tis normal - you must not check new releases on steam charts much
Really? 78% decline of playerbase in 7 days after release is normal?
The only real question is what proportion of that 78% obtained a Steam refund, because i doubt Steam would quibble over it, the game has some very obvious issues.

mark my words of prediction (which are often correct I might add modestly)
I predict NMS will and has already made lots of money

Just as hard to believe that I'm one of the few people who don't think WoW is the best, yea I'm proud to be part of the niche group.
I didn't expect the game to be pixelated and a game that has no space if thats what you think I mean. You gather stuff, you sell, craft, endless worlds to explore. Literally sounds like minecraft and spacebound to me. The way they advertised it, sounded like those 2 games. And if you somehow ignored procedural generated world I feel bad for you purchasing a game thats not the game you expect.

Ok the wow reference was completley random and from left field.
There is no planetary landing in fucking Minecraft. if you get excited about infinite procedurally generated game worlds as a key features of a game look at 7 days to die as well.

There are still elements from minecraft that are in No Man's Sky. Thats why I thought of minecraft, I'm aware theres no space adventure in minecraft.

I suspect that the first months figures will be of interest to us both then. This is one of those situations where PC owners have the advantage over Console owners, oft times its far easier to obtain a refund for a 'questionable' purchase, particularly through Steam. If PS4 owners had as equal a service when it comes to refunds you have to wonder how many of them would also opt for a refund, after all, the supposed advantage of having a console was that making games for them that run reliably is guaranteed, no variations in system spec's etc. And yet, the PS4 version of NMS was buggy, it crashed, a lot, if there is one thing that AJ's review clearly demonstrated it was the number of times that the game crashed, and that can get frustrating, which was also demonstrated, so, how many asked for their money back who owned the PS4 version, and how does that compare to the numbers getting refunds on the PC version? NMS was massively pre-ordered, so yes, it made lots of money for Hello Games, the question is, do they get to keep it?

ok well I will leave that alone but I will say this,
if infinitely large procedural generation is your thing, look into 7 days to die

Still after all the hate it is in the top 20 on Steam and has over 20,000 more people playing NMS than ED lol
and that is why marketing works despite people thinking it doesnt.
game doesnt have to be good to sell a F ton
Or that some people just actually like the game
well not to argue with you on that point I am just saying highly marketed games do well and not because the game is good but because the marketing is good. that is a pattern that is repeatable and measurable

The game to me is a solitaire replacement, something to kill time with when you have absolutely nothing else to do. Just glad I didn't jump the gun and throw in the cash equivalent to a AAA game.
